Two passes almost picked off
I say we go to the safer passes because Kitna's long ball is off right now.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 1:12 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

About a yard short
Idoubt they go for it since it's so early.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 1:13 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Kicking away from Hester
Have to do it all day, nice punt Harris

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 1:14 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Crap
Rogers is injured.  Announcers said we only have 7 d-lineman dressed and now Redding jumps offside to give Chicago a first down.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 1:18 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Well what do you know
Rogers is back in the game and sacks Griese

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 1:23 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

No good!
Gould hooked it.  Awesome defensive stand after giving up a few big plays.  Now it's time for the offense to get going.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 1:24 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Pass interference
That penalty will move the ball deep into Bears territory.  Pretty easy call to make there, he was all over Roy.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 1:28 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

The faulty redzone offense is back
At least Kitna didn't turn it over

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 1:32 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Interesting kickoff
To keep it away from Hester.  Hey, whatever works.

(And yes Fox, we get it, Rod Marinelli would rather kick into Lake Michigan than to Hester)

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 1:39 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Kenoy Kennedy gets to Hester
Very important to get to him quickly when they give him the ball on offense

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 1:42 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Good punt by Maynard
Detroit has a lot of field in front of them now.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 1:44 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Kenoy!
Interception stalls a promising drive for the Bears.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 1:58 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

End-around to Johnson gets the ball to the 5
C.J. looks a little hurt after a rough tackle

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 2:08 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Jones scores a TD!
What a drive that was.  93 yards or so I believe

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 2:11 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Bears punt and actually stopped the clock...
...for the Lions there when they called timeout.  1:03 to go before the half.  Do the Lions sit on the lead or go for something?

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 2:19 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Detroit's moving the ball
But they're wasting a lot of time

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 2:21 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Great pass to Roy
16 seconds left and the Lions could at least have a shot at a field goal.

I would go deep once or do an out pass to get out of bounds.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 2:22 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

From 52 yards out the kick is off the upright...
...and good!  How it went through is beyond me.  Off the upright on in inside and just barely over the crossbar.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 2:25 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

One more kickoff here before the half
Just squib it to keep it from Hester to take the 13-0 lead into the locker room.

First Half
Hey Sean!

Pretty impressive first half really.

Sure is nice to see a Lions team that doesn't make tons of stupid penalties.  THAT really makes a difference between winning and losing.

I'm glad we're keeping the ball away from Hester but can't Jason just boot em through the endzone?
I mean the Lions are giving them a starting position between the 30 and 40 yard line.  I've seen Jason kick em out the back several times.  Does he just not have the leg anymore?

Having Jones back is awesome.  Defenses can't key on the running game or just sit back and play the pass.  The offense is dangerous... unless we try pass plays on third and inches while deep in our own territory.

Kudos to Hanson.  Plenty of distance on that 52 yarder.  Wish they had a better camera angle so we could see how the heck it went through.  It sounded like it drilled the upright.

2nd half starting.  Lets go lions!

Maybe if we can get to 5-2 then there will be more than two people posting during the games here.

by tbranch on Oct 28, 2007 2:42 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Great points
Hanson bounced that last one through the endzone, but I'm not sure if he could drill it through the endzone in the air.

And yes, if the Lions get better hopefully more people will start posting.  Heck, it took 4 wins just to get me out here lol.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 2:44 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

What a pass
Kitna squeezed that one in there to McHugh for the 1st down.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 2:49 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

What an effort by C.J.
Too bad it wasn't overthrown.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 2:51 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Nevermind
He was out of bounds as soon as he hit the endzone.  Still, though, it was a nice catch.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 2:51 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Wow
Hanson hits the long field goal before the half and then hits the chip shot off the upright and it misses.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 2:52 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Posting.
I saw you were the only one posting last week.

I was the only one posting during the Washington game... and I was mostly pissed.

This year has been sooooo refreshing.  I got so used to watching this team beat themselves over the years that it looked like there would be no end to it.

I still don't always feel good about this team but it's 1000% better than the impending doom I had to look forward to every Sunday.

Oops... Hanson just donked a shortie.  Hopefully it won't matter.

-T.

by tbranch on Oct 28, 2007 2:54 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

The difference I notice
Is that usually by this time of the year we're discussing next year's draft.  Actually watching a team that isn't completely sucking is definitely refreshing.  And hey, if they keep winning we might get to utter the "P" word .

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 2:58 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Crap
Griese hits Greg Olsen for the TD.  13-7 Lions lead.  That return is what set it up.  Offense now has to the points back.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 3:09 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

The 'P' word.
I'm not going to utter that until the actual kickoff of an actual 'P' game.

Speaking of drafts... won't it be nice to not have to pick a wide receiver in the first round next year.  Sure would like to get a kick ass linebacker or a lock down corner.

Say the Lions go 8-8 or 9-7.  What does our first round pick look like next year?  Middle first round?  Do we have any extra picks coming?

Touchdown Chicago.

Come on Offense.  Erase that sucker.

-T.

by tbranch on Oct 28, 2007 3:10 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I would imagine it's mid first round
And a corner or another LB to go along with Ernie Sims would be nice

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 3:12 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Jones!
Jones waits for the hole to develop.

Nice run!

by tbranch on Oct 28, 2007 3:11 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Near disaster there
Thank God that tipped pass fell to the ground.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 3:13 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

McDonald is having a nice game.
Shawn makes the catches.

Seems like he ALWAYS runs backwards after the catch but it worked this time for a first.

by tbranch on Oct 28, 2007 3:13 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

He's been a nice addition to my fantasy team
Always gets the yards and a TD catch every now and then

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 3:15 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

recievers
Zero dropped passes really makes an offense click.

The Lions truely have an excellent recieving core this year.

by tbranch on Oct 28, 2007 3:15 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Man, Roy barely was tripped up there
Get Duckett in there for the short yardage situation.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 3:15 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Depends on the spot
Looks like it could be a tad short

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 3:16 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

on the road... one yard line...
Yeah... gotta go for that!

by tbranch on Oct 28, 2007 3:16 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

An inch or two
Gotta go for it.  QB sneak or use Duckett, this is when he shines.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 3:16 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

That works too
Offsides on the Bears gives Detroit a 1st down.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 3:17 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Kitna drew them?
Was that all Kitna on the hard count?

Kitna reacted like that was exactly what he was going for.

Lets punch this in.

by tbranch on Oct 28, 2007 3:18 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Looked like Harris just jumped there
I thought they were going to quick snap, so that might've been why he jumped.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 3:19 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

End of the 3rd quarter
I don't think we'll see a record again.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 3:19 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

4th Q
At least we won't have to hear about how one game the lions scored 34 in the 4thQ and zero the next game.  We'll get some 4thQ points out of this.  Even if it's just 3.

by tbranch on Oct 28, 2007 3:20 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

2 score game.
A FG still makes it a 2 score game.

by tbranch on Oct 28, 2007 3:22 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Take it.
Could have been a 4th down bust with no score.
3 will work... not optimal but it will work.

by tbranch on Oct 28, 2007 3:23 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

no Hestor
Big return by Hestor here and the Bears are fired up... poor return and the bears will go 3 and out.

by tbranch on Oct 28, 2007 3:24 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Great field position but I'd rather play it safe
They sure love showing that kick into Lake Michigan clip.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 3:26 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Give it to them on the 40
Don't really like that...

Now when Hester (spelled it right this time) is in for the offense we need to shy away from just keying on him.  The Bears have been using him to just open up the rest of the players.

Watch out for wide pitches and trick end-arounds.

Keep containment.

Lake Michigan
That clip was funny the first 5 times they showed it but... come on.

by tbranch on Oct 28, 2007 3:28 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Intercepted!
And Griese got drilled.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 3:28 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Great catch by Keith Smith
Got his hands under the ball to make the catch.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 3:29 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Big Interception!!!
Eat some clock now.

Griese looked like he might be hurt.

by tbranch on Oct 28, 2007 3:30 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

300 pounds for the 1st
Maybe we should've given it to him down there by the goal line.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 3:30 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

False start and a sack
Lions with a chance to step on their throat and they twist their ankle trying.

by tbranch on Oct 28, 2007 3:33 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Punt
Kick it out the back of the endzone!

by tbranch on Oct 28, 2007 3:33 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Kick OB at the 17
That'll work.

by tbranch on Oct 28, 2007 3:34 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Lake Michigan
They should photoshop Hesters head on some guy in a bathing suit and show him going in after it.

by tbranch on Oct 28, 2007 3:35 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

They should at least do something different
Like you said, it was funny at first, but now not so much.

And White comes up with another sack.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 3:36 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Jones Jones Jones
A steady diet of Kevin Jones, stay in bounds, don't fumble.

by tbranch on Oct 28, 2007 3:39 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Throw in one trick to keep em honest.
I can't believe he just fumbled.

by tbranch on Oct 28, 2007 3:40 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Crap
Exactly what you said: don't fumble and he does.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 3:40 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

worst thing that could have happened.
That was a critical mistake.

You just can't do that crap... no excuse.

come on 'D' .. HOLD!

by tbranch on Oct 28, 2007 3:42 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Meltdown imminent?
Prove to me that this is a different defense guys

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 3:43 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Luckily
Luckily the Bears offense is far from clicking right now.

Hester is pretty much all they have.

If we don't get penalties we should be able.... CRAP!!!!  Pass interference on an uncatchable ball.

by tbranch on Oct 28, 2007 3:45 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

1st down Bears on the pass interference
Looked like shoving from both guys was going on

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 3:45 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Gerald Alexander!
Smith tips it and the rookie picks it off.  Huge play.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 3:46 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

3 Interceptions
The Lions arent dropping balls no matter who throws them.  We must've spent all week playing with the JUGGS machines...

Lions got some sticky hands today.

by tbranch on Oct 28, 2007 3:47 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Roy catches a pass for the 1st down
Keep those chains and the clock moving.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 3:48 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Tough call here
Do you even think about going for it?  A yard could win the game, but a punt, if it went to Hester, could really bring Chicago back.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 3:51 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Great job Harris
Defense just needs 1 more stop here

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 3:53 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Short yardage.
can't make short yardage again.

Come on Sideline kick.

2 lake comments by the announcers.

still time to show the Lake video.

3 lake comments.

by tbranch on Oct 28, 2007 3:53 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I'd rather
Still it's better hearing about Lake Michigan all the time instead of hearing about the Lions "Bend-Don't-Break" defense.  I used to totally hate that line.

by tbranch on Oct 28, 2007 3:55 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

replay
Are they using the replay to count how many people were on the feild?

by tbranch on Oct 28, 2007 4:04 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I guess they could count
That was a waste of time for 5 whole yards.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 4:04 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Sticky
Lions have some sticky sticky hands today.

by tbranch on Oct 28, 2007 4:07 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

You got that right
I don't think there was one drop

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 4:08 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

And that's the ball game!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4th pick of the day and Detroit will win it 16-7. What a game defensively.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 4:07 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

What a stat
3 interceptions in the endzone

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 4:08 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Good game
All in all... good game on the road.

I feel a teeny bit of Lions pride.

5 and 2 bitches!

That was probably uncalled for but hey....

See ya next week.

by tbranch on Oct 28, 2007 4:09 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Go Broncos
If Green Bay loses tomorrow we'll be tied for first place.  8 weeks into the season, no one would've expected that.

Also, we're halfway there to that certain prediction by a certain QB.

by Sean Yuille on Oct 28, 2007 4:09 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Is this really happening?
Two weeks in a row, the Lions win a game I'd thought they'd lose for sure.

Could the Sarge really be putting something together here?  I reserve the right to withhold judgment until the Lions play Green Bay.  But right now, this is beginning to look pretty good.
