We need Bill Cowher
The new GM should be Bill Cowher!! The Fords have seen him on TV so he meets that. He likes defense so it could work with our current coach. He must be about ready to get back into the league. The owners have patience and they should give Cowher all the money and power he wants. Lets do this. The season is not over yet. I dont know what good it will be to bring in a GM at the end of the season. No one is going to expect a new GM to turn it around in this season but what is the point in waiting??

That’s true (we do need Cowher, or someone like him), but he doesn’t need us. I’m sure he’d much rather settle in at a college somewhere and be the face of the school until he’s ready to retire for good.
If he did decide to come back to the NFL, it’s speculated that he’d either prefer a stint with a franchise that’s close to North Carolina, or with the Browns. If Cleveland keeps underachieving, and Cowher was returning to coaching, you’d have to believe they’d make a strong play for the guy.

As a coach, but...
not as a GM. Remember, in Pittsburgh Cowher did not have free reign in the personnel dept. They had their own GM that selected personnel (a former Lions scout). I’d love to see Cowher as the next Lion’s coach, but we need a pure talent-evaluating GM with an extensive scouting background.

"cowher" will lead to the same mess...
“big names” is not what the Lions need… quick decisions and quick fixes turn into quick desasters…AKA Millen type situation.
The new GM is already scouting the Lions. The future GM is as we speak making a 2 year plan to get the Lions to respectability. The Future GM has this plan, not in his head, but down on paper and will submit this plan to Ford Jr & Sr. Also, the future GM will should have a performance type contract…(why the hell not?)…with option to be fired for incompetence.(the Millen clause).
As for the coach…The Lions need a coach that has the mental capacity to handle an offense and a defense, something Marinelli does not have.

dats prolly a good idea. but i mean what’s not at this point. we need as much change that we could get. players who wanna play and coaches who wanna coach and gm’s with the right and not the wrong mind frame. its like we are not built to win. horrible free agent pick ups to overlooked drafts……..i mean come on na.. i kno im not the only one who can’t bare to watch us play, its like deja vu. down 21 points in the first quarter and its ova.
