Roy isn't the problem. Here's what we really need.
I have noticed everyone seems to be displacing their anger on Roy now that Matt Millen is gone. Let's face it folks, Roy is NOT the problem. I know we need someone to hate and he is the most vocal person on the team right now which makes him easier to target, but the problems are not his fault.
The lions offense could be much better with a few major tweaks.
For starters we need a QB that is more reliable. Kitna is accurate for the most part but he cannot scramble and has a tendency to throw picks for no reason whatsoever. We need a QB that can scramble and keep his cool under pressure.
Secondly we need to fix the o-line. We need to be better at opening up lanes for the running game. I think Rudi Johnson still has a lot in him and Kevin Smith is a great change of pace back until he can get a little more experience and take over as the starter. But not with the current line. We also need to be giving the QB more time to make accurate and intelligent throws, whoever it ends up being.
The defense needs a lot of work. Aside from the Rookies and Ernie Sims, I don't really know who is salvagable. All of the players Marinelli brought in during the offseason were supposedly already "used to his system", but they look like a bunch of scrubs come sunday. I don't know if it is the talent on defense, if its barry, or what the problem is, but the defense may just need a complete turnover aside from the key players mentioned (sims and the rooks).
If I had to choose who to keep, I would probably keep the following starters :
All 3 RBs, Stanton, Felton, Roy, Calvin, Furrey, Gaines, and Gos on offense.
And
White, Sims, Bullocks, and all the rookies on D.
Other than that I don't care if they scrap the whole rest of the team.

I agree that Roy is not the problem
The coaches and players as a whole are the problem. I don’t really think the hate has been directed only towards Roy and once the trade deadline passes I doubt there will be much talk about him until the offseason. I understand what you’re saying since lots of people have spoken out against him, myself included, but I would say most realize he isn’t the problem.

roy is not the problem
he is just the beginning. not even ernie sims or calvin johnson should be kept. it is not that they are talented enough, it is just that those two could do so much more for another team. if it was done right we would have developed an O-Line and follow with a D-Line. but what do i know i just follow the lions.

Roy is Okay
I agree that Roy is hardly the problem. Calvin Johnson has had his share of dropped passes as well. As a whole, I believe that Roy has actually been very good for the team. When they are doing poorly (as usual) he remains very positive in the medias eye. He has come in with a good attitude and has maintained optimism the entire time. It seems to me with better coaching, a stronger quarterback, and a decent o-line, that Roy could live up to his full potential in Detroit. The REAL problem here is if Roy ends up being traded to another division team (ie. Kevin Jones to Chicago) that he is going to be living up to his potential there and shoving it back down Detroit’s throat twice a year. Even though Kevin did not start against Detroit last week, do you really think he didn’t enjoy beating the Lions down? Roy is hardly the problem, and far from the total answer. Overall, Detroit needs a team.
All the Best, and go Lions!

Roy, himself isn't the problem.......
…….it’s his attitude.
Everyone knows that Millen spent his draft picks on shiny chrome parts and never drafted the steel to build the frame.
