He should’ve been tackled for no gain or a loss but spun away to gain a few yards.

The play was a bootleg but the Panthers' defense wasn't fooled
4th and 1 coming up, and the Lions are going for it. Might as well.

Nice... neutral zone infraction on the Panthers
Two guys jumped.

Smith gets stuffed for nothing
And he only gained 2 on first down surprisingly. It’ll be 3rd and 8.

Great catch by Calvin
Culpepper’s throw came up a tad short and Calvin had to fall to the ground to get it.

That was clearly a TD on the replay they just showed

culpepper...
I’m really starting to think he might have been a good move. The commentator also said that Daunte feels his knee is at 100%, and thus far he’s looked quick on his feet and pretty agile. I guess today will be a good test since the Panthers look like they’ll be coming all day and Peppers has Backus blocking him, what a mismatch.

I used that one last week. It was behind but pretty good. Just gotta click the link quickly.

McDonald got ran into
It nearly bounced off of a Lion. There should be a penalty on Carolina for kick catch interference.
Check out Pride of Detroit, SB Nation's Lions Blog
Damnit..
I was really hoping to see a second positive drive and crown Culpepper the Lion’s franchise player.
Delhomme should have been sacked by managed to escape and complete a short pass

Good afternoon
Anyone know of a streaming link without a huge lag?

Well, at least we are dominating time of possession.

kevin smith 1st guarter
8 rushes for 56…1 catch for 15
today...
looks like it will be Kevins first game with over 100 yards rushing plus some, hopefully he’ll get some respect after a good performance today.
I bet on the Lions, getting 14.5 points.
I felt like a tard for doing it, but I might just have a chance.
Culpepper had to get rid of it quickly
Smith ran into the umpire and couldn’t make the catch.

I hope that's not a sign
of when we played minnesota and actually played decent and the refs were out for us. Maybe the last 50 years have been a big conspiracy.
To be fair
Smith was probably trying to use the ref as a pick but the ref wasn’t where he thought he would be.

Is it jsut me...
…or does Rudi Johnson seem somewhat expendable? He has not been very impressive. Kevin Smith on the other hand continues to have a quiet but consistently good year.
Rudi Johnson...
is still a good back, and for us to have him and be in the position to have him as a backup/mix up back, is a good position to be in. I think if we had one or two improvements on our OLine they’d both be talked about like Johnson/White in Tennessee.

what a joke...
im finally starting to agree that the lions will not win a game. They come out strong for once, and now blow it. They either blow leads or start to come back after being down 21 plus points.
Cason with a big return
Could have been a TD but the kicker slowed him up.
Check out Pride of Detroit, SB Nation's Lions Blog
the only way...
to really stay in this game is to get a td before half, or else it will probably end up with another carolina score after the half, and then were down by 15 just like that.
Great blocking on the return
Huge hole to run through. Now the Lions can try to get points.

bleepedy bleep bleep bleep bleep bleep!
driving home, heard an update that the Lions were up 10-0 with 10 minutes to go….I get here, and they’ve given up three TDs in the last ten minutes? (Not that that’s surprising) And two TDs in like a minute?

They don't have
enough picks in the draft to help much next year…..need to mostly raft a whole new team. I’d keep Calvin, Smith and Hanson… Hopefully they’ll get a new GM that doesn’t have his head up his butt and do some decent off season moves. be nice to make the playoffs again sometime this century.

this years draft...
there’s plenty of oline and dline talent, so if we went to the 2nd or 3rd pick, we’d still be fine in meeting our needs, and if the cowboys fall to the 15th pick, we’d get two A+ additions to our oline and dline, and still be able to aquire 2-3 big name free agents.
True
The situation the Lions will be in this offseason gives them plenty of chances to improve quickly. Whether or not they will is another question.

i think...
the most important offseason move has to be the gm. that will dictate if we look like the falcons or dolphins or like, well, the lions.
Agree 100%
That is the key to everything. A competent GM can turn this around. Maybe now quite as quickly as Atlanta and Miami, but at least to a point where we win more than a few games. A crappy GM, though, can mean disaster, especially since we will have so many high draft picks.
