Culpepper put it in there on the curl route

Calvin went to the ground to make the catch.

Rudi is close to a first down

He should’ve been tackled for no gain or a loss but spun away to gain a few yards.

The play was a bootleg but the Panthers' defense wasn't fooled

4th and 1 coming up, and the Lions are going for it. Might as well.

culpepper...

I’m really starting to think he might have been a good move. The commentator also said that Daunte feels his knee is at 100%, and thus far he’s looked quick on his feet and pretty agile. I guess today will be a good test since the Panthers look like they’ll be coming all day and Peppers has Backus blocking him, what a mismatch.

by TonyDC on Nov 16, 2008 1:52 PM EST reply actions

Rudi Johnson...

is still a good back, and for us to have him and be in the position to have him as a backup/mix up back, is a good position to be in. I think if we had one or two improvements on our OLine they’d both be talked about like Johnson/White in Tennessee.

Need a big turnover!

or 3 and out!

0-10. F**king Lions!

Look at their schedule 0-16. Worst team in NFL history…worse even than the Bucs.

2 Point Conversion...

prolly wish they had that back. There is enough time to get a TD but not a TD and a FG.

by TonyDC on Nov 16, 2008 3:55 PM EST reply actions

here's the sad part...

a part of me still thinks they can win.

Culpepper nearly intercepted again

Flag on the play.

That run by Stewart

is all you need to see about the Lions D

Awww man...

I have John Kasay, I was hoping he would drill a 50+ yarder for me…that would be worth around 5 points for my fantasy team.

you know, I’d cheer for the bengals, to give the lions a cushion in the race for the first overall pick, but….you get the feeling, they could go winless the rest of teh year, and the Lions would still “win” that race

by ahtrap on Nov 16, 2008 4:11 PM EST reply actions

A Bengals win would give us 2 games on them

Meaning only KC would have 1 win and we would be last with 0.

honestly...

I’d rather have the 2nd or 3rd overall pick, it would open the salary cap

If we get someone that knows how to draft

The higher the better. If it’s someone crappy, the lower the better.

On the brightside

I think this thread had the most comments than any other game thread this season.

They’re playing in the snow in Pittsburgh.

this years draft...

there’s plenty of oline and dline talent, so if we went to the 2nd or 3rd pick, we’d still be fine in meeting our needs, and if the cowboys fall to the 15th pick, we’d get two A+ additions to our oline and dline, and still be able to aquire 2-3 big name free agents.

by lions_sucker on Nov 16, 2008 4:18 PM EST reply actions

True

The situation the Lions will be in this offseason gives them plenty of chances to improve quickly. Whether or not they will is another question.

Just look at the Dolphins

1-15 a year ago and now they are 6-4. Rebuilding quickly is possible.

i think...

the most important offseason move has to be the gm. that will dictate if we look like the falcons or dolphins or like, well, the lions.

by lions_sucker on Nov 16, 2008 4:22 PM EST reply actions

Agree 100%

That is the key to everything. A competent GM can turn this around. Maybe now quite as quickly as Atlanta and Miami, but at least to a point where we win more than a few games. A crappy GM, though, can mean disaster, especially since we will have so many high draft picks.
