AP sports write Larry Lage, who is becoming one of my favorite reads of late, has written a nice article giving Jason Hanson the praise he deserves.
I remember when Hanson was drafted in the 2nd round in '96. We all thought "a kicker in the 2nd round?! WTF?!" Sounds more like something Millen or Ford Sr. would do. This was definitely one of the best picks the Lions have made in the last few decades (CJ, K Smith, Barry, Herman Moore, to name a few come to mind as excellent choices).
I believe that Jason has the numbers to be a Hall of Famer, should be a Hall of Famer, even though he plays for the Detroit Lions. He's still got some years left and that will only increase the likelihood he goes.
