"The only injury today is me (laughing). No, I had a few jokes, but no, if you just bear with me for one second and then I’ll just open up some questions.

"I’d just like to take a moment to thank Mr. Ford, that’s important, to give me this opportunity I had here to coach the Lions. I’d like to thank our staff and all the staff: the trainers and equipment men, all the way down. Our staff—they did a great job all year. (They) hung in there, and the fans of the community and the community itself. It’s very special to me—great place to live; and above all, the team and the quality of men we had here this year and I think they’ve left the foundation to build on. I know that."

-Rod Marinelli

Despite his lack of success as a head coach, Rod Marinelli is a great person that I have the utmost respect for. He was always classy and never did quit, no matter how tough the situation. I wish Rod the best of luck in the future and think he will do a great job wherever he ends up.

A full transcript of Rod Marinelli's farewell press conference can be found here.
