And he wants Kirk Ferentz and not Josh McDaniels. As much as I'd like Pioli, there hasn't been a great track record of college coaches coming up to the NFL as a head coach and performing well.
Maybe we do need to give Mayhew a chance, but I wish we'd have at least interviewed some other people instead of gift wrapping the job for him.
I hope Mayhew's vague "plan" includes building up the trenches firt.

YEAH!!!
I agree by giving Mayhew a chance, however your right and it would have been better to interview a couple other prospects especially since Parcells could potentially be available. I also think Mayhew should interview Rex Ryan since a couple of those free agents from the Ravens defense said they would be happy to follow them. ex( Terrell Suggs, Lawan Landry, and Ray Lewis.) I like the fact that Mayhew is lining up all of these interviews.
