How bad is Culpepper? What needs to be done.

In Yahoo! blog 'Shutdown Corner' the author discusses (satirically)  the QB situation in Detroit and suggests that Allen Iverson could be the answer for the Lions.  The article basically discusses how bad Culpepper is and how crappy the QB situation is in Detroit for them to have to sign him.

It's time for a big change for Detroit.  As I've stated before, and has been mentioned by many others, including here, in this well thought out post by Paper Lion here and with just info here, Scott Pioli should be the Lions choice for the next top job in Detroit.

There is a disparate need to cut ties with the Matt Millen era of incompetence and stupidity and usher in a new age of progress for our beloved (though thoroughly cussed) Lions.  I have been a Lions fan for several decades now and am/have run out of patience with Ford Sr's feeble attempt to be an NFL owner.  i believe it's time for him to pass the team on to Jr. and let him start over.

There are several excellent choices out there for GM (Reese, Accorsi among them) besides Pioli but I honestly believe that he is in the right place at the right time and would be the best choice for the Lions NOW.

It would be nice to see Detroit make an attempt at winning instead of just making money.  With the blackouts that have happened this season, maybe Ford will finally wake up and see that their fans aren't going to take it anymore and it's time for change.  DO SOMETHING FOR THE FANS FOR ONCE! Hire Scott Pioli as the Lions next GM.

Piolli or Reece

We need an experienced GM that has been a part of a winning team. Scott Piolli would be a perfect candidate along with Floyd Reese. Maybe these guys can bring in a coach that will help our team win games as well.

Quarterback situation!!

If our quarterback situation is looking like this next summer I think that we might as well sign Michael Vick when he gets released on July 20th. Yeah we would take some crap from it, but he wins football games. He still has it in him he will only be 29 years old and for those people that think he wont be in shape when he gets out, they are wrong. He is working out just as much now maybe even harder and he really wants to get back in the league so trust me he is working to stay loose. If they allow him to come back what do the lions have to lose in signing him. We drafted a QB that sat on his couch for a whole year and recently weighed in at 277 pounds he is the biggest DE on our team besides for Alama-Francis. If we go 0-16 this year which looks promising then signing him for next to nothing would be the deal of a lifetime for the lions.

Gotta say "No" on the Vick flick

With the Lions image being brutally assulted by the media this year, the LAST thing we would need is to bring a guy like Mike Vick into the picture. Think fans are peeved now… just wait until they get a load of doggie slayer in Honolulu blue. That oughta tick some season ticketholders off. Hopefully, the Fords wouldn’t do something like that. Besides, Vick hasn’t been that good since the year they went to the NFC Championship. Sure he’s a great athlete, but he’s an average quarterback at best. It would just take too much investment in him, only to see it eventually fail. Detroit needs to treat Vick like an infectious disease and stay as far away as possible. Hopefully, Dallas will sign him.

Casting my vote for Vick NOW.

Sure Vick participated in dog fighting, and I don’t approve of what he did, but let’s be realistic. I might be more sympathetic to the “pro animal” rhetoric, if the (nationally televised) “Animal Patrol” didn’t air episodes from Detroit, showing the world what happens with dogs up there too. Eradicate that, THEN criticize Vick off the field.

Once all hands are clean, you’ll see a Pro Bowl QB that rushed for 1,000+ yards and took his fave target to the dance too. He’s effective, and will play with a huge chip on his shoulder to overcome his recent lowlights. No he’s not the perfect QB, but neither is anyone else we could land this year (unless we go after McNabb). His big money days are over, until he redeems himself AND a team. Why not us?

SOMEBODY’S going to give him a chance, even as back-up insurance. (What if it’s Minnesota or Chicago?) He’s still a hungry young 1st down machine, surrounded by better weapons than Atlanta had. He freezes linebackers. He beat Brett Favre at home in the snow. True, he may run a lot, but ugly wins are still wins. BOTH parties desperately need some good press. He’s STILL the most intriguing possibility out there, topping Ocho Cinco.

NO on Vick

Personal feelings aside, He’s an average QB at best. He runs well but that’s it. Already have K Smith to run the ball. Need someone who will stand in the pocket and get the ball to Megatron. Vivk won’t do that. He’ll tuck it and run instead. Besides, way to much negative press. I don’t want the asshole on the Lions.
