Stay connected for news and updates

The Lions were originally scheduled to play the Indianapolis Colts in the first game of the preseason, but that is no longer the case as the defending Super Bowl champions will be coming to Detroit instead.

Two changes to the first week of the 2008 NFL preseason schedule to accommodate stadium availability and local television partner commitments were announced today by the league.

The New York Giants will now visit the Detroit Lions on Thursday, August 7, and the Carolina Panthers will host the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday, August 9 in the first week of the preseason.
