Vikings Trade for Jared Allen

Stay connected for news and updates

The Vikings defense just got upgraded in a big way as the Chiefs have traded defensive end Jared Allen to Minnesota for three draft picks.  It's not easy to make a defense like that a whole lot better considering how much talent the Vikes already have, but adding Allen takes things to a whole new level.  He is one of the leagues best defensive players, and seeing how much money he will be making is proof of that line of thinking.

The former Chiefs player has agreed to terms with the Vikings, Allen told FOXSports.com exclusively, on a contract that makes him the highest paid defensive player in NFL history. The deal is for six years and just under $74 million, including a stunning $31,000,069 guaranteed -- 69 is his jersey number.

I hate to say this, but I'm already envisioning Jon Kitna getting sacked over and over by the Vikings defense.  Like I said, they were good before, but with Allen they quickly have become one of the toughest defenses in the entire league.
