Kitna, Pt. 2
With Farve now gone would you consider Jon Kitna the best QB in the NFC North? I know I complain about him, but looking at the Lions they should be able to go at least .500 within their division (and I think that's worse case scenario). Let's take a look around the divison...
Kitna - Weak in the pocket but that could be due to a crappy O-line. Strong passer and he is fearless.
Orton / Grossman - The Bears were 3-13 last season, so there really isn't anything positive to look at. Super Bowl 41 should prove that Grossman isn't the real deal and Orton is unproven.
Jackson - He isn't very good, but all he has to do is give the ball to AP!
Rogers - We will have to see....

Good analysis
Kitna is the most proven QB in the division now for sure. Especially since Orton is the favorite to start in Chicago (BTW, they went 7-9 last year, not 3-13).

Does it matter?
Our O line sucks………but at least all of our high end recievers are sexy.
What? We cut two of them? Awesome!
Fire Millen already……..

kitna
To be honest your not looking at it correctly
last year we were under the martz system (aka crap)
with teams knowing that we were going to pass 80-90% of the time made it hard for kitna, not to mention the 7 step drops are very hard on a quarterback and the offence line having to do that all game long.
Kitna is by far the best quarterback in our division.
Jackson will be a fair player, only because of peterson
Rodgers is overrated
Orton will be descent but the recieving core isnt great in chi town
as soon as our run game picks up, which I know will. We will be a greater team than people expect
im saying 9-7.
FYI Calvin Johnson is a god on the field, and Colleto knows this

Depends on how well Rodgers performs
The Bears made the right decision in going with Orton (if you ignore the terrible decision of not drafting a QB in this years draft or signing Culpepper or Leftwich) but he is no Kitna. Tavaris Jackson MAY become better with time but his decision making last year was awful and he doesn’t play hurt. Aaron Rodgers looked awesome in the first preseason game but terrible in the second. I think Rodgers will have problems with the Packers O-Line, which just isn’t that good. Favre was able to make the O-Line work last year mainly due to his experience. I think Rodgers could easily become a great QB with proper protection, but as for now, Kitna is the # 1 QB of the NFC North, hands down.

Smith and Johnson: The Awesome Combo!!
I believe also that Kitna is by far the best in the North, if not one of the top two or three in the NFC. I agree with Tony K that since Martz is gone(also agree he was overrated!) that the running game takes on new meaning. Now we know that Smith came close to breaking Barry’s record in college, but that doesnt by any means make him another Barry Sanders! He has to prove he can do it in the Bigs! I do think they should work Rudi in the mix and work them as a tandem in the backfield. It worked for Cincy when Rudi was a rookie, I believe with Rueben Droughns, or Corey Dillon. Not sure. Anyway, Rudi has had some problems lately, but I think he’s young enough and has shown in the past that he still has the potential to run for a 1000 or more. We know we have all world Roy Williams and Calvin Johnson and Furrey is no slouch. I think we could have a very good year, in fact, Mr. Kitna, you might get your TEN wins this season!!
P.S. Having followed the Lions since..oh…seems like the turn of the century (20th!), I think the biggest problem that I have observed over the years is overconfidence! They win a few games , kind of like last year starting 6-2, and then they start celebrating. I believe there were players on the team last year who actually made plans for the playoffs after the first half of the season! I can still remember when they had Silver Bullet/Billy Sims in “81, I believe it was. They won their first 4 games and then several members of the team got together and made a music video with the song, "Another one Bites the Dust!” Of course, you guessed it. They fell flat on their face. Not sure what they finished that year, but I dont believe it was over 500. Big, Big, Ongoing Problem!!!!
