The End
I just got back from the game, and I still cannot believe the ineptitude that this team possesses. The defense, from the front four through the secondary, were downright pitiful. I have never seen anyone more lost in a football game then Brian Kelly was today. He has little to no man-to-man coverage ability, and when they go to zone he has ZERO break on the ball. Aaron Rodgers was abusing him all afternoon, but yet Barry kept trotting him out there. The rest of the secondary were marginal at best, but it seems as though they have an uncanny ability to get exploited on 3rd and long. The packers were 9-16 on 3rd down (compared to the Lions 2-12), and i can remember at least five of them were seven yards or longer. Is it really that hard to sit back in cover 4 and get a little pressure on the quarterback? It's not like the Lions were worried about the run game.
Jon Kitna is an absolute joke. He drops back and immediately gets happy feet, whether there's any pressure or not. He stares down receivers and has the most piss-poor attitude I have ever seen from a NFL QB. It's like he thinks he's too good for the team, so he pulls off stupid stunts like walking off the field on the last interception for a TD.
I don't know what it is with this team, but there is nothing that they do well. From the top down, they are atrocious at every position. Marinelli is clueless, and everyone seems to be catching onto the crap he's feeding the press. "We'll wait to see the film", and "We're pounding the rock" are two of the most BS statements I have ever heard from anyone, especially when you manage a whopping total of 49 yards on the ground. The staff pays no attention to special teams, no one can tackle, and Marinelli's prized d-line could be one of the worst units on the team (one sack on Rodgers). Marinelli could easily be gone by week 8. This could very well be the worst team in the Matt Millen Era, and 0-16 is a very real possibility.

I fired off a FIRE MILLEN EMAIL last week
and it bounced back. LMAO, you know they won’t let Fire Millen get through the queue.
Stop buying tickets to the game already, please.

Why do we Lions fan say Fire Millen?
I say get rid of that idiot we call a QB Kitna… What the hell goes through this guys head on game day. This bible hugging “I wear my cross on the outside of my pads” idiot can’t do Sh*t for this time… Man we should have traded every draft pick for the next 3 years and grabbed Favre… any other QB could use the Lions WR weapons to rack up Tds but no we have Kitna who likes to through Picks in the red zone and he also likes to under throw people as well. untill he is gone we will not see a season over .500.

Really?
Because he’s the one who banked on Kitna in the first place, along with all the other scrubs and inept players on the roster. Because he drafts WR’s like there will never be another. Because he’s a FUCKING IDIOT!

Seeing jon kitna jump around after a dropped pass in frustration made me seriously consider his maturity. Fortunately kitna is getting older and perhaps stanton will be more of a gem then we suspect. I really like stanton’s versatility while running a bootleg.
I had to work and missed the second half, but from what i saw in the first, it looked like the same old lions. Poor tackling, players not looking very alert, passes that should not be dropped by the “3rd best receiving core in the league”. Not to mention it is pathetic that the defense celebrates after the first 3 and out and then goes on to give up 21 points… Should I mention paris lenon?
This is all just very poor. Does anyone on the lions know what they’re doing? Does the coaching staff know how to effectively teach tampa 2? Or even proper tackling technique? I assumed bringing all these veterans from Tampa Bay may bring more knowledge of the system and teach younger players, but it doesn’t seem like anyone knows how to cover. Maybe I am being a little too harsh. Or maybe I drank too much blue koolaid. Is it too early to say maybe next year?

Stanton
While I definitely agree Stanton is probably a superior athlete and quarterback than Kitna, he will most likely never be a reliable starter.
His record so injury plagued that I don’t see him lasting long enough to really lead the team on the field for any prolonged stretch, and definitely not long enough to get the playoffs.
He was fun to watch in college though, and if he had stayed healthy I think MSU probably would have beat Michigan in at least one of his games.
