Around SBN: Clippers Need To Realize That Spurs Are The Anti-Grizzlies

Excuse me while i vent

I live in Chicago, i have never lived in Detroit, but for the last 19 years i have been a devoted and passionate Lions fan.  I have endured many, many, lows and my heart has been ripped out too many times.

Star-divide

Im sick of the losing, im sick of treating every draft day like its the biggest day of the season. I'm sick of the horrible, horrible defenses that we have to rely on year in and year out.  Im sick of being the butt of every joke, im sick of being asked the same question year in and year out, "why do you still root for those guys? ".  Im sick, sick, sick of Matt Millen calling the shots and getting more and more opportunities to set this organization back.  Im sooooooo sick of losing to Green Bay !!   I will always be a fan of the Detroit Lions.  Not because of all they have done for me, because for the last decade, they have done nothing.  The reason i will always be a Lions fan is because i want to be there when they get it together and win a super bowl.  Whether it be next year or 30 years from now, i have too much emotionally invested in this organization to just walk away.

Thanks for listening, just had to get that off my chest.

oh yeah, bench Kitna !!

How in the World..

Why did you ever get behind Detroit if you’re not from the city?

I feel very much the same way though, too much emotion has been invested in this team for me to turn my back on them.

I'm not from the city either

Barry grabbed my heart as a youngster……..been pissed off ever since.

I denounced my fandom after week one, but of course, there I was Sunday, pissed off as usual.

it started in pee wee football when i was 9, my team was the Lions and i was shocked that we had the real logo and jersey of the NFL team for my pee wee team. I got home with my fresh new jersey and the Lions happened to be playing on TV ( Bears were off i guess ) i fell in love and have rooted for them ever since.
It may sound like a silly reason but when youre young and impressionable i guess it makes a little sense….. WORST DECISION OF MY LIFE !!!!! :)

Honestly i was lucky to start being a fan during the Barry Sanders era so i have a lot of great memories.

Lions

I’m from Detroit and my only hope is that Calvin Johnson gets traded soon, so that he doesn’t waste his career in Detroit like Barry Sanders did. Over the years the Lions have had good players and good coaches. The problem is (and always has been) the owner and front office personnel. Let’s face it, Bill Ford accepts mediocrity. Mat Millen is like Inspector Clouseau, except that with Peter Seller’s character everything went right at the end. With Millen it’s a train wreck from beginning to end.

More Lions

I have a good friend who is also a diehard Lions fan. I have known him since we were in high school 25 years ago. Every year for the last 25 years he has been telling me why it’s gonna be different this year. We drafted so and so, our new coach is a proven winner, we have a veteran defense, Mars, Jupiter and Pluto lined up on Barry’s birthday, and on and on and on. Every year I just laugh. I’ve lived in L.A., St. Louis and Detroit and I’ve never seen a pro sports franchise with such a losing mentality and a corporate or franchise culture that just accepts their place as a doormat. They will never win on the field until they change their attitudes, and that has got to come from the top…which means Ford and Millen.

Its so funny, every year i tell my friends the same thing, “This is the year we turn things around” all they do is laugh.

I agree with you on Calvin Johnson. i would hate it if he left but i know that he would be better off if he did. Lets just hope that we can win some games and try to turn things around. All we can do is hope right?

Don't we all

And I’m lucky enough that my two best friends are lions fans.
