Week 1 Fantasy Wrap-Up

Coming into the start of the season, my confidence wasn't exactly all that high for my team in the official Pride of Detroit Fantasy Football League. The reason for that is because I had a really crappy draft, at least I thought I did at the time. It was my first draft of the year and I was pretty rusty. Looking back, some of the picks just cause me to scratch my head. If I could go back and redo it, I probably would have, that is, before week 1 got underway.
Despite my lack of confidence in my official POD FFL team, I ended up dominating my opponent this week. That was actually the case in all three of the leagues I'm in, but I'll save the other two for later as I first want to give you a look at just how dominating my team was.
(Note: Stud = highest scoring player; Dud = lowest scoring player; Benched = highest scoring player on bench; Optimum = most points possible; Rating = actual points scored/optimum)

In the POD Overflow League I won my game 117.88-74.8 and had a coach rating of 100%. In the SBN-AOL league I was victorious by a score of 97-55.3 and had a 96% coach rating.

By the way, SnotKnocker's is the team that has Tom Brady. To add insult to injury (no pun intended), SnotKnocker's drafted Brady #1 overall. That really has to suck.

I thought Kitna would have a huge game against Atlanta.
Still got me decent points but Brees was definitely the man. Looking forward to week 2!
After I hit a home run I had a habit of running the bases with my head down. I figured the pitcher already felt bad enough without me showing him up rounding the bases. ~Mickey Mantle
May the best team win
Never let anybody tell you that a FFL is won by strategy and knowledge. This is like a game of euchre where the final team standing gets the loner hand. I agree that a major part of this league is the draft and last minute substitutions. The bulk of it is withstanding serious injuries to your top players and defensive breakdowns…(Tom Brady, Michael Turner) I am sorry Snotknockers, I was going to draft Brady at pick #5 but you jumped on him. We all have top-quality players on our teams and it is just the intangibles and luck that separates us all. Rudy Guiliani’s Warhawks, after looking at our rosters for next week and the specific match-ups, either one of us could beat the other by 40 points, or it could be a squeeker. All I know is Megatron will show-up and have 150 yards rec and 3 td’s. That is not luck, with the megatron it is never luck.
Totally agree
I didn’t draft any better than anyone else and ended up with the most points this week. Next week I could have the least amount of points, especially since Michael Turner doesn’t get to play the Lions again. There’s a lot of luck involved…

I got shafted by fat Willis McGahee. He was active for the game and didn’t get a single carry! I knew my RBs would be a weak point this year (stupid autopick drafted Peyton Manning first).
MGersz, you’re right. This is a crazy crazy game. All I know is that snotknockers luck is about as good as his grammar.
Lol, that was a good one
I seriously can’t even imagine losing Brady after 1 week.

Well I'm the joke of the league this week.
Cause those who lost can all say, well at least we didn’t look as bad as the Few (very Few) Good Men.
I’m not down on my team though, I still got players (Addai, Boldin and Jones-Drew will play better), I had bad luck (Todd Heap) and Steve Smith coming back, so if I’m going to get the stinker out of the way, at least it is early.
luck it is
I’m 1-0, but I have less points than a couple of the 0-1 teams. You don’t necessarily have to have the most points, just more than whoever you’re up against that week, and that’s what happened.
That said, Aaron Rodgers had a very effective game against a good defense yesterday. It’ll be interesting to watch him, and see if Ryan Grant being completely healthy will take away from his stats or not. I’m using him against the Lions, regardless, and not thinking about it twice….
