Lions Hire Jim Schwartz

Tom Lewand said this in a statement released an hour or so ago:

"After an extensive search that included several highly-qualified coaches, we are thrilled that Jim Schwartz will become our team's head coach. Martin (Mayhew) and I believe that Jim's qualifications and vision will lead this organization on the field toward our goal of becoming a championship football team."

Thanks

As a Vikings fan, I’m glad you didn’t take our defensive coordinator. He’s the only competent member of our coaching staff. Good luck in 14 out of your 16 games next year, and as Yogurt said in Spaceballs: May the Schwartz be with you!

Look out for St. Louis

Things sound like they’re getting pretty hot and heavy with the Rams and Frazier.

My question is...

Who is getting Spagnuolo. Did he deny the job? I liked him better.

Lions never gave him a second interview

So I doubt he ever was close to being offered.

Coach Schwartz...

I just spent the weekend in Nashville at the house of a PR guy for the Titans. He is the brother-in-law of one of my best friends. We had awesome seats to the Titans-Ravens game which we opted to take instead of the Titans-Steelers game. Go Figure…This guy and I had very long conversations about Jim Schwartz and the Lions. We are extremely lucky to have Jim Schwartz coming to coach us. He is one of the smartest, most-dedicated, accomplished coaches in our history. I am VERY excited to see Schwartz with us. GO LIONS!!!!!!!!!!! I was soooo close to waiving a poster at the Titans game reading…. “Lions are #1” I had all my Lions clothes on anyways.

Congratulations Detroit

Schwartz was a great coach with the Titans. He’ll be successful with the Lions.

Go Titans!
