Rumor has it that the Patriots may not put the franchise tag on quarterback Matt Cassell. I'm not sure if this would be a good move or not. He is a decent player but he took a team from Super Bowl contender to out of the playoffs in one year (grant it, they still had an 11-5 record). he will probably make a ton of money as a free agent and that cash could be better spent on rebuilding the Lions.
The question is how much more or less is a first round QB going to cost than Cassell would? How much time would it be before they would be ready to start? Cassell could step right in and start from day one. Just a thought.Cassell Franchised on 02/05/09. Please Lions, don't try for him. Waste of good picks.
