They're coming on!

I like the way they’re becoming a real football team. I’ve watch’ed for 50+ years, and I’m finally glad to see a team, and a good coach!!

I voted for Secondary Pass Coverage

But I could’ve gone for quite a few others…Pass protection for example.

2009 = The start of the Lions Golden Age (We hope).

secondary pass coverage....

is horrible. But just as equally bad has been the secondary’s tackling.

Secondary pass coverage

Worst in the league in opponent’s completion percentage, opponents QB rating, and opposing passing TDs. Nuff said.

Honorable mention goes to D-line pass rush. Without blitzes, we’d have no pressure at all.

Packers fan POV

I think it’s your secondary. Then probably your dline. You guys are much improved though and I’m looking at our game next week completely different then I was in the beginning of the season. Schwartz is a great coach too!

My vote is secondary pass coverage

And I`d pick offense pass protection, too. 3 consecutive sacks in a crucial situation.

I voted secondary pass coverage as well...

If you improve that piece with a true shut-down corner and a couple of other studs at safety and LB it will have a way of improving everything on D and even Offense. If Detroit turns the corner on being able to prevent runaway scoring so that at worst you are never more than 1 or 2 scores out of the lead, it will also impact how opposing teams play D knowing the deep ball threat is always lurking. That opens up your run game for Smith.

Too easy - Pass Coverage in the Secondary

Secondary pass coverage. You can’t win in this league when, through 5 weeks, the 5 QB’s you played against have an average QB rating of 125. That is pathetic. Passers are completing better than 70% of their attempts against us. We need to get better there and fast.

Secondary pass coverage

I would have said special teams, but they picked it up after last week’s debacle. The pass coverage has been consistently bad, however, and since there is one rookie out there with a bunch of vets, it does not stand to get better next year.

On the fence.........

Its a toss up between the secondary and the O-line. Amazingly enough, I voted secondary! Our team is improving. we need to be patient

Add one more for secondary pass coverage

I voted for secondary pass coverage too, although O-Line pass protection and D-Line pass rush were tempting.

What? He can’t block a dead gopher? Humph, details.

Big fat secondary pass coverage here....

I know that pressure helps (and that is a very close second) but how well can James and Henry hold up over a 16 game season? We better be able to put up some points!

by DrewsLions on Oct 13, 2009 12:17 AM EDT reply actions

i voted for pass protection

if u think about it if the lions had good pass protection: A. Stafford proably wouldn’t have gotten hurt from being sacked so many times. B. They could have 2 maybe 3 wins with the way they played and C. The running game would be better with better pass protection because the other team would feel more threatened by the pass. Now the pass coverage is bad dont get me wrong, but pass protection must be fixed if this team is going to be good in the future.

by David7 on Oct 13, 2009 3:03 AM EDT reply actions

only pick one

That’s tough. The D-line is not getting consistant pressure, and that could hurt the secondary’s pass coverage.

Offensive Line AS A WHOLE

You should have an option for just plain horrible o-line. We’re ranked 19th for rushing O and 16th for passing O.

Not bad but with the weapons we have on offense we would be easy top 10 in both statistics if our offensive line wasn’t a waste of oxygen.

Even if Daunte didnt hold the ball too long last game you’re looking at 3-4 sacks just on the o-line getting beat, Sackus being the worst of them.

Plus, add in the fact that Kevin Smith has to hit a hole to run in that a rabbit would have trouble finding, it just makes me cringe.

Who could possibly answer TEs

LOL…even if they stunk, they still wouldn’t be our biggest weakness…and Grew and Heller have been at least decent.
