Stop Freaking Out
I was an avid opponent of drafting Matthew Stafford. I wasn't convinced from his college years at Georgia that he was #1 material....that he would be a franchise QB for us. I was wrong. Dead wrong.
Stafford has shown so far that he is a rookie worth waiting for. By that, I mean he has not realized his full potential as an NFL QB, yet I can tell he belongs. We could've defeated the Steelers with him in the game. We would've put up more of a fight at Lambeau Field this year. The team would've gone into the bye week feeling more confident had the knee problem not happened. However, I don't feel this is time to panic. The bye week came at the right time. We have two weeks before we face the winless Rams. With good news, Stafford will be back by then (cross your fingers). Megatron will definitely be healed up. Perhaps our injury list will be able to shrink.
Let's not panic.
The team had a rough go at it in Lambeau. I'd be lying if I said I didn't see it coming when we knew Stafford and CJ wouldn't play, along with the long list of others who weren't 100%.
We obviously have holes. We obviously are not a playoff team yet. But we have shown signs of major life this year, peeking through the bushes. We can continue to watch them grow as a team together this year. They will win some more games. (My predictions? STL, CLE, SF...possibly SEA and CHI at the end of the year...crazy things happen in the last game)
Then, we can trust in Mayhew and Schwartz to have another very productive offseason...and you know they will. Look at how the draft picks are coming along! I've been impressed with most everyone picked in the 6th round or earlier to some degree. They will continue to grow.
Don't panic, guys. Our hopes have been returned to a high level for a reason. Because we know that winning is right around the corner. Rest assured.
GO LIONS!!!

heading the the right direction
everything about the team is heading in the right direction. i’d add AZ as a possible home win. i think they’ll wil 4-5 games this year and around 8 next year. 2011 will be a playoff year.

Agree 100%
As I’ve said a million times, this is a growing season. We may not see a ton of wins, but we will be growing in leaps and bounds through the experience our guys are getting. One more offseason and I fully believe our staff will have erased the taint of Millen, and we can really begin to take shape as the new look Lions.

The offense
that was on the field was not our optimal lineup. It didn’t have an opportunity to grow today.

Freaking out?
More like Pissed off at Mayhew thinking Culpepper was a competent backup QB. We should’ve traded or released him before the money was guarenteed. This sentimental BS about him losing weight, yada, yada is baloney. If Stafford is not ready by the time St Louis gets here, Stanton should be the man.
Culpepper should be ashamed.
Detroit’s offense should be ashamed.
Linehan should be ashamed.
What a joke.
This is not freaking out… this is pure nausea.
Excuse me while I go vomit at the thought of Culpepper behind center again this year.

What exactly...
…did Stanton prove when he went into the game? I am no proponent of Culpepper by a long shot, trust me. I just don’t see the infatuation with Stanton.

huh?
So Stanton has to prove something now?
Culpepper is the one that has proven that HE is NOT capable of the #2 QB spot.
By the power of the Schwartz… it should be Stanton that should GET to prove he is capable.

+1000000
Pep’s had his chances, time and time again…..Stanton hasn’t. Stafford deserved a chance, so does Stanton.
What? He can’t block a dead gopher? Humph, details.

You speak truth
I expected a game like this at some point this season, we are not a good team yet and avoiding bad games like this was gonna be a tough call, and that was made only harder by how banged up we were. I didn’t see the game and I missed the second half completely but the fact that we only lost by 26 seems as if we got lucky, could’ve been worse.

It could be worse
I mean Philly lost to Oakland today. I can’t even imagines what’s happening on their blog and am honestly scared to check it out.

How about the Tennessee Titans blog? Might be rioting in the streets
The team that started 10-0 last year (with a ferocious D led by DT Albert Haynesworth and The Schwartz as Defensive Coordinator) just fell to 0-6 with a 59-0 loss to the Patriots, with Tom Brady throwing 6 TD passes (5 in the 2nd Qtr).

tennesee
At least we are not as bad as tennesee this year. I can’t believe how fast they have fallen. We definately need to draft for defense next year though.

I don't think it's a total coincidence...
…that their D sucks after Schwartz left. Lions FTW on that one.

They're a teams in worse predicaments than us this year
Plus, we are coming off a shocking season, we are sorta expected to be near the bottom of the pack. We’re rebuilding after all. Teams like the Titans, Browns and the Raiders should be doing better than they are and they are truly heading backward, we are heading forward.

Yep
WAS, STL, OAK, CLE, KC, TB, and now TEN all look worse than we are. The only reason some of them have wins is they played each other. Must be nice to have an easy schedule.

And there are other teams that aren't much better than that
JAX, SEA, SF, and CAR have played poorly at times.
