Lion's Defense,What Defense?
Now I see everyone is talking about next seasons draft. It's obvious that the lions have a lot of problems. Hopefully Schwartz will address the defense like he did the offense this year and take care of some of the problems. I can only repeat myself in saying a mean nasty defense goes a long way in improving your team . You may not win,but you get respect, eventually that will equate into wins. With the Green Bay debacle I kinda got the feeling that Detroit lost some respect . When that happens you never get any breaks.

5 sacks and 2 turnovers....
with a rag tag bunch….
With a decent pass defense, the Defense would be top 15 right now, but our record would be the same due to lack of offense.

The defense's biggest problem is giving up explosion plays
If they could limit those they wouldn’t be all that bad.

defense
i agree our corners need help, however i am happy with our linebackers, and a little surprised with our d line. with our first pick next year we need to replace backus, hes a huge problem at left tackle. next years draft is deep with de and dt. keep an eye on the free agency also, for the first time i feel good about the management in detroit. i really think we should of taken michael oher over pettigrew.

The defence has been a bit up and down
They look good for one or two drives, but then will look horrible for another 3 or 4. Consistentcy is what we need.

What we need is some DBs.
The statistic that sticks out biggest to me is opposing QBs complete like 73 percent +/- of their passes. Not to mention the QB rating stat. Our DBs make every QB we face look like an all pro.

If I were the Lions' GM...
Just some things I can think of to shake the team up a little further…
(I said this in another thread) Make a trade for a shutdown CB with a pick and JP (And Backus, preferably)
Draft the best OL you can with your 1st rounder, then the rest, defense.
Hire a new special teams coach.
If those things were done, I think we would balance the team out pretty well, spreading talent, and getting rid of some old sores. I’m really advocating trading Peterson at this point because its the middle of the season, and though he hasn’t even had a good year, I’m sure he’d make great trade bait. Put Levy (who I’m not a fan of but others seem to like) in at SLB, and we should be OK.

I believe Kwan will be gone at seasons end.
I don’t know how he is still here. Also agree we need a stud OL with the first pick.
Don’t like the idea of losing JP though. He is not having an all pro year but he has been solid.

Peterson still has a good 5 years left in him...
I think you could get more for Sims.

Give Sims some time.
He was in a bad defensive sceme when he started. He has a solid work ethic and will be much better when he masters the D under Schwartz.
