Man in Red?

Watching the games, there is a guy who never leaves Schwartz's side wearing the same khaki pants, but with a Red shirt instead of the Lion's polo the rest of the coaches wear.  Who is this guy?

I've seen the officials who wear red during college games who let the coach know when TV timeouts are going to happen or are nearing completion.  But this guy is always with the team, home or away.  So it can't be an official who would rotate.  Plus, I don't see these "Red Shirts" during other games between different teams.  He must be a coach or some assistant valuable to Schwartz.  But who he is and what is role is to the Lions is a mystery to me.

That's me

I neglected to tell you all I am Jim Schwartz’s right hand man… Everything the Lions do goes from WCF to me to the Schwartz.

Proceed to flame me.

Look at his hands.....

He is holding the cord connected to Schwartz’s headset…..I agree with JC, I think he is a techie.

Kind of strange that he wears a red shirt.

Stands out like a sore thumb. Guess I can’t really say that though, I never noticed.

How 'bout him?

I went to the Lions official site and looked at all the coach pics. It looks like this might be Matt Burke, the Linebackers coach. I posted a pic for the rest to sound off on if they look alike or not.

If it is him, then one mystery is solved. But why the Red Shirt?

I notice him every game and he's always right by Schwartz

Haven’t bothered to look him up, but he does look exactly like Matt Burke. I don’t get why a LBs coach would wear a different-colored shirt than everyone else, though.

subconscious training for LBs?

don’t kill the guy in the red jersey… don’t kill the guy in the red jersey… don’t kill the guy in the red jersey…

Some coaches wear odd-colored shirts so their players can find them more easily on a sideline lined with team colors. Philadelphia coaches do it every once in a while. And two years ago, there was a documentary on the Patriots, and they mentioned how they have their Special Teams coach wear yellow so he’s easy to find.

I get that

It’s just odd to me that a LBs coach would be the only one wearing a different color.

I should have read further before commenting below.....

I had a similar thought, but I had a brain fart and was thinking that Burke could be signaling in plays for the defense…..
