Around SBN: Kobe Bryant Isn't Up To Speed On Jeremy Lin, 'Linning'

Why this is the most important game of the year.

I know what you're thinking. What is this guy smoking and where can I find some? The Rams? The most important game of the year?!?! Well it is. At least it's the most important game of the year so far anyway. This is why is think this. Our beloved, yet much maligned, Lions are attempting to make their way out of the moldy, smelly cellar of the NFL. In order to begin the climb they made key acquisitions in the offseason through the draft and free agency. Staff, Grew, Foote, etc. The next step in that climb is to win the games we SHOULD win. We beat a subpar Redskins team and we should've. Now we face the all-defeated Rams. The Rams who have a very good chance completing the season winless. This is a team we SHOULD beat. Only by keeping the Rams winless will the Lions continue their journey out of the cellar in an appropriate fashion. Only by keeping the Rams winless will the Lions begin to cement themselves as future contenders to anyone outside of this blog. Only by keeping the Rams winless will the Lions truly be on their way to restoring the roar. The real journey begins on Sunday. Let's beat the teams we SHOULD beat this year. We can worry about stealing games next year. GO LIONS!!!!!!!!!

this will tell us for real if we are pretending to be competitive with the better teams we faced in the front six…or if we were pretending & got lucky…the team needs this one to prove they are no longer cellar dwellers & are really on their way back up the charts

agreed london

I’m looking forward to this game on your reasoning, are we really improving or just tredding water, it was hard to tell with staff and CJ out. If we win this game like we should, and do it with out a sour taste in our mouths I think we really could makes strides late in the season.

lions should win

if the lions cant win this game they are hopeless. this is a game tht is at home against a winless team tht they are favored in. they only possible way the rams win is if jackson goes crazy for over 250 yards. lions d is bad against the pass but the rams have the worse pass offense in the league. Lions must win.

This most definitely is an important game

For all the reasons you’ve mentioned. We NEED to win this game, if only to solidify our thoughts that we are better than the worst in the league. If we can’t, than the knowledge that we are in fact worse than we thought would be all to disheartening.

i agree

It seems strange to expect the Lions to win a game. I think we’re all a little freaked out by this prospect, I know I am.
It seems like it’s a Lose-Lose situation really. Or more like Lose-Epic Lose. If we win, we beat what’s probably the worst team in the league, and we were supposed to beat them. If we lose, we’re right back to square one. Any steps we’ve taken since the beginning of the season are erased.
So while non-fans are calling this the “The Ungame of the Week” or “The Toilet Bowl,” there’s really a hell of a lot at stake here for us. Look on the bright side though: it’s nice to have something to lose in a game isn’t it?

We need this win for your reasons and more

This game could sway the Lions attitude in either direction. A win would show fans and players that headway is being made. The efforts of Schwartz is making a possitive effect on the team and I could see a confidence boost from a victory.
A loss could mean we are still a cellar dweller and have made no real steps forward to being a competative team. Not to mention that they would have to carry around with them the tag of we let the Rams get their first win against us. Not a easy pill to swallow.
The Lions should win this game, no excuses. The Rams are horrible in every way a team could be. lets hope they are not simply looking past the Rams and let them pull this out, but I really don’t see that. Schwartz will have them ready.

The real reason we need to win this game?

Our cap number can’t afford another #1 overall pick.

by Trysdor on Oct 30, 2009 10:01 PM EDT reply actions

Doesnt mean there wont be one eventually

But the great thing about “He who should not be named” Most of his picks arent on the team anymore! Wait, thats a bad thing….
