Culpepper

Did anybody else see how Daunte was just tearing up that bears D?  It's clear he's a far superior QB to Stafford.  I mean, he just shredded the Bears to the tune of 4.9 YPA and 0 points.  It's obvious to me that if we'd started him all along, we'd be 4-0 and well on our way to the superbowl.  The brilliance of Daunte Culpepper would clearly make up for all the defeciencies of our team.  He's obviously the right choice.  We should just break Stafford's knee right off.

I saw it

Yeah, he totally dominated.

Plus, we didn’t even get to see his surgically tuned knees show off his scrambling skills. We’ve seen Stafford run 15 yards on 3rd down a couple of times to get the 1st and keep the drive going. But Daunte would definitely be able to get double this now that he lost all the weight.

Rumor has it

that when he was under the knife, he had his calf muscles shortened to theoretically increase his jumping ability. He should be able to leap right over the offensive and defensive lines in a single bound and streak up the middle for a touch down.

haha

thats halarious lets just hope that Stafford will be ready to play next week

Are you 3 fuckin serious?

Really? lets turn the tide around you 3 fools. The game was way over thanks to the special teams, the defence had it’s ears pinned back and was coming at him and the offence had to be 1 dimentional by the time Culpepper got into the game. I don’t hear you 3 fools talking about how when the lions were up on the bears and the mighty Staff infection threw that INT to a D lineman hat tuned the tide of mister momentum. I also don’t hear you 3 talking about how the ST’s let a third string kick return guy take it back for 102 yards to set the tone for the secnd half. Get off of Culpeppers ass you non-lions fans! If you want to bash on our team go find another site, like “the norseman” or “the windy city gridiron”. You 3 are lucky I wasn’t herewhen you started posting this crap that you are spewing!

No they're not serious, dude

just some sarcasm is all :)

Yeah Davis

They’re just muckin around.

Dude the guy was on the bench all year

Do you think you can just sit on the bench and get thrown in the game at a moments notice and perform great, if you could you would be a STARTING QB of that team. If DC has to play next week given proper time to get ready I’m sure he will perform better than he did on Sunday, that being said I’m praying Stafford is fine and will start on Sunday…

by msivits on Oct 5, 2009 10:41 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

The backup QB has one job and only one job

to be ready to play at a moment’s notice. “I wasn’t ready yet” is absolutely no excuse

by Trysdor on Oct 5, 2009 12:41 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Um, that is the backup's freaking JOB, if he...

can’t do his JOB, then he doesn’t need to be the #2 guy. Particularly being a 10-year veteran.

by MusicCityDawg on Oct 6, 2009 12:01 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Had to know this was coming.

I’m gonna sit this one out from here on and just enjoy the hijinx.

I refuse to say a word, other than this.....

Temper your sarcasm unless you have something intelligent to say that makes sense.

by KDawg on Oct 5, 2009 1:16 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

sorry, i'm done...

‘cause i can’t on this topic…too much.

well one point…yes cp marched down field…but when is he going to take a shot? i have yet to see him throw down field this year (preseason & regular). yes the bears were in prevent so the underneath is wide open…but here’s your shot…show that you can put together a 60 sec drive. at least show that you still got the arm to get it down field & not just automatically go to the 3rd & 4th read

by londonlion on Oct 5, 2009 1:27 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

How about

Daunte Culpepper is, and has been for several years now, a middling, below-average quarterback who doesn’t give the Lions any sort of improved chance to win, and has absolutely no upside. Better?

That would be an EKG

Of a person with a very fast heart rate.

by Nate D. on Oct 6, 2009 1:46 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Ahhh...

Okay, I get it.

by DrewsLions on Oct 6, 2009 12:42 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Nope

It is an EEG…..

by KDawg on Oct 6, 2009 2:17 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

For those of us....

medically challenged, can you enlighten us why that is important?

by DrewsLions on Oct 6, 2009 6:03 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

The Electroencephalogram (EEG)

which is displayed above….shows the brain activity of a person who is clinically brain dead. Thus the flat black line in the middle of the graphic.

by KDawg on Oct 7, 2009 1:48 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

If thats the case

It would of been a flat line for the poster of this thread!

by davis0169 on Oct 7, 2009 5:33 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

No you idiot!

Go figure out a way for a team to come back with less than 6 min to go in a game being down by 20+ points on the road, and then when you find the 1 QB that was a back-up (in Buffalo) that actually did something close to that, then come back and talk! What are you Drew’s twin brother? Not callin you out Drew but you were the biggest Staff backer going into the season. This guy is worse than a color blind weekend warrior up north in the woods drunk with a firearm!

by davis0169 on Oct 7, 2009 10:03 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Not me I'm ready to fight these 3 fools.

It’s obvious that thes 3 non-intelligent fools who have not chimed in all year, are not really Lions fans to begin with!

by davis0169 on Oct 7, 2009 9:47 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

i read this & hope for supreme sarcasm

dc should have been starting? superior play @ 4.9ypa? 0 pts? when you are down by 3 scores & you only have 4.9ypa you gotta be kidding me. this was classic culpepper…sure no turnovers…but did he even look more than 8yds down the field at all??? if it is sarcasm…which i hoping for…

then let me join…dc for mvp…dc plays w/ new bifocals & throws for a first down…dc’s accuracy under 5yds is as good as anyones in the league…dc looks constapated when he is taking snaps under centre…

by londonlion on Oct 5, 2009 11:00 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Fishing, anyone?

Didn’t know about the tightened calf muscles. Awesome. I bet he was too afraid to jump in Chicago. Being in the Windy City, if he got too high he might have gotten caught in a draft and fly right out of the stadium. Best if he only use those powers in the dome.

And another thing no one is talking about is how focused he has been. Shoot, he lives in Michigan for Petes sake. And what is Michigan known for (other than not having any jobs)? The Great Lakes! But have you heard of any boating trips by Daunte? Of course not! He’s so busy studying tape he doesn’t have time to leave the training facility.

by UniBallOut on Oct 5, 2009 11:11 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

especially since he dropped all that weight

but wait a second…no he didn’t…he just ripped his jersey off…there’s an “s” on his chest…no wonder he looked like he was floating like a butterfly out there

by londonlion on Oct 5, 2009 11:35 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Culpepper did exactly what he was asked to do. Finish out a lost game.

Personally, I thought he looked okay. I was hoping we could hold off on the negative back biting for a few more weeks.

by NorthLeft12 on Oct 5, 2009 1:05 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Really

what was he going to do when they were already down by umpteen with 5 min left? His job at that point was 1-to make sure Staff didn’t get hurt worse and 2-to get some practice in case he has to go next week.

by ATL Lion on Oct 6, 2009 12:44 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

ATL, I'm defending Daunte for pete's sake!

He did what the back up is supposed to do. He moved the chains and, I thought, looked okay in the time he was on the field.

If you read the FanPost, it sure sounds to me like a shot at Daunte from a Staff supporter in response to all the shots the Daunte supporters have taken at Staff.

I really don’t want to hear any of it. They are all on the same team and will play when the coach puts them in. End of story.

Thank you

I am glad to see you post something that speaks common sense NL…..I got onto you a bit in another thread, but after reading this I understand the other comment a bit better…..although not completely.

by KDawg on Oct 6, 2009 2:19 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

GOD I wish I had been here

I would of been all over them. What a couple of ignorant fools these guys are. Oh thats right Culpepper was playing on special teams as well as Punting and kicking and playing every position on te field at the same time. Jesus christ the Bears started every damn posession at mi-field or better, and this fool wants to talk shit about Culpepper? what the hell is he even talking about!

by davis0169 on Oct 7, 2009 9:51 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Rev

I am just getting sick of some of these “lions fans” that want to just crush on some good play on the field. This has been the mot competetive team we have had in almost a decade and it’s frustrating enough to have to listen to all the sarcasm not only from every so called guru, but our own fans as well. It’s just getting old.

by davis0169 on Oct 7, 2009 5:36 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

+1

although i too have been guilty at times…it has not been my only stance. i think we are all entitled (i see your previous points kdawg) to let loose every now & then…but there are too many that simply come on here to let their opinion be known…but never come back to defend…or talk on a different topic. sad when we have to defend our lions so vigorously against a few other “so called lions guru’s”

by londonlion on Oct 8, 2009 9:16 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Hey, don't take my comment to be agisnt you

That “really” was not meant sarcastically. I really believe that was his job and he did it well.

Here we go again……….

What? He can’t block a dead gopher? Humph, details.

I am one of the original Stafford backers...

but it is very unfair to judge Culpepper by what happen on Sunday. I had no problem with what he did on the field. And if he has to play on Sunday. I feel confident that he will do a good job.

by JCruize on Oct 5, 2009 9:41 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Me too

I want Stafford to play…..but also believe that DC can get the job done. Thanks for being open minded about the situation JC……comments like yours keep me sane.

by KDawg on Oct 6, 2009 2:20 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

well our opinion..

is different on Staff v. Culpep. But I have never had a problem with Culpepper. We all know Staff is the future. I was just one of those who want the future sooner than later. But, I do think Culpepper can still play. And if even a chance. He could do a very good job. I mean, I have already removed the “Williams” off the back of my #11 Lions jersey. I guess I should get “Culpepper” put on it.

by JCruize on Oct 7, 2009 1:47 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Bishop Howdy first off

And I know as well that Staff infection has looked better and better every single week, but this guy is definitely no LIONS fan! AWWWWW god damn band-wagon jumpers who don’t have a clue what the fuck they are talkin about really burns my ass. Go find another site you JACK ASS’s! Sean if I’m being to offensive sorry but this shit get’s my blood boiling real fast! You all know I was/am on Culpeppers back to start out the season but I see know that Staff was the right choice, but to talk shit about him when it’s obvious that he had no chance to do anything at that point in the game when the Bears D-line had their ears pinned back and the secondary knew that we had to throw the ball, uhhhhhh, If it smells like shit, tastes like shit, and looks like shit, it must be SHIT!

Strange post

Sarcastic I believe.

GREAT POST!! NOT

It was garbage time gimme a break. I wouldnt expect anyone to come in for those few plays and do someting worth while. We were trying to end the game. Im all about Staff but there is no reason to throw Dante under the bus for what he did during garbage time. I definitly believe Staff is our QB but to talk about DC like he just a chump is uncalled for. Grow up!
