Coach Schwartz does not tolerate poor performance
Tom Kowalski has a great read on how Coach Schwartz is trying to instill a culture of responsibility and high performance with the Lions.

"I've never been known as a patient person," Schwartz said. "There's a fine line between staying the course and being on the right track and then going the other way and continuing to do the same things and not having results and expecting things to change. It's my job to recognize that.
Just check with Aaron Brown, Yamon Figurs, Philip Buchanon, and a few others. I especially like the support that Mayhew seems to be giving Schwartz in this respect. Certainly different from the last regime.
I love the direction we are heading. It may not mean a lot this year, but 2010 and beyond are days filled with hope.

Bing.... GONE
another change!…. no results? you are done….. he taking names… we are better than last year… defense will be addressed in the draft…. i can’t wait to see what can happens… but go Lions this year too!… 2 – 4 wins are possible…. defend your home turf…
GO LIONS 2009! the transformation begins.
I thought Bobby Ross could be the coach who would turn around the Lions....
but I think he just did not have the energy to deal with a front office who undercut him every chance they got. If he had been twenty years younger he might have seen his way through it.
Ross's big problem to me was
He tried to impliment an offence that a certain “greatest” running back did not want to run, and when Sanders left due to that fact Ross’s days were numbered. I forgot about him as one of our many head coaches that came and went in that 10 year period. The irony is it kind of all started with him and we have not found one that has been able to change the culture of this team since. I do think that Swartz is that guy; if given a long enough chance and not run out of town by us fans.
Plus 1 here!
And I just couldn’t ever understand what the heck he was ever trying to say. That damn speech impedimant he had was kind of odd.
Mushy had a great reply on this subject......
……..in a thread over at the Bears’ Windy City Gridiron site, where he explained to Bears fans how Marinelli said “everything’s on me”, repeated his cliches every week (Mushy gave great examples of the cliches), and how Rod changed nothing. Bears fans don’t get it. They only see Rod as an experienced D-Line coach. We saw him as a way-in-over-his-head Head Coach. I like Schwartz’s way much better.
What’s that pic? It looks like a whale at the dentist.
What? He can’t block a dead gopher? Humph, details.
I"M LIKING IT!!!
Check ou this quote…
“If we’re going to follow the philosophy of the head coach, the best player should be out there and I darn sure think he’s one of the best players we’ve got right now,‘’ Cunningham said. "Right now, the thought is to not take him off the field on any package. That’s a big load for a rookie but I think he can handle it and (head coach) Jim (Schwartz) thinks he can handle it, too. We’re going to coach him hard.’’
Hmmmm, sure sounds like it =)
I also love this quote from Schwartz:
“I’ve never been known as a patient person,” Schwartz said. “There’s a fine line between staying the course and being on the right track and then going the other way and continuing to do the same things and not having results and expecting things to change. It’s my job to recognize that.”
Schwartz gets it. Marinelli never understood that.
What? He can’t block a dead gopher? Humph, details.
best ever Lions coach?
best coach PERIOD… with his obvious potential .. he could be the best Lions coach since Wayne and beyond (ever?).
GO LIONS 2009! the transformation begins.
