Week 10 Trivia
Another week of licking our wounds fellow POD'ers as we got physically outmuscled by the Vikes. Here's to a W this week (hopefully) against a team (Cleveland) who is almost as inept as our beloved Lions.
Anyway, I usually think of the 1990's as good, solid years for the Lions. They were consistent playoff threats and always seemed to be on the brink of exploding, but never reached those anticipated heights (we were sort of like the Texans over the past several years). Anyway, sandwiched in between playoff appearances in 1995 and 1997 was 1996. I remember this season in particular because I felt hopeless as the Lions found unbeleivable ways to lose games during the season (sound familiar??) All of this losing, of course, after starting the season strongly, entering the bye week at 4-3 (I think) and posting impressive offensive statistics.
However, coming off the bye we lost every game the rest of the season except one (the only reason I remember this is my brother was living in this city at the time and he called me to congratulate me).

Good question, but tricky
Being from the mid 90s, there is an obvious choice on your list. But is it the right choice?

LOL
I remember the game……
Barry had a good game, as usual. Don “The Magic Man” Majkowski was our starting QB for that game (I think Mitchell had his bout of vertigo the game before). We barely won the game on a last minute FG by Jason Hanson.

Duuuuuuuuuuude
96? Do you have any idea how much pot I’ve smoked since then? I don’t remember ’96, let alone a Lions game!

Lemme try and guess...
1996 was 13 yrs ago. 13 × 52= 676 wks. I’m gonna guess conservative and go with a 1/4oz per wk avg.
676 X .25= 169oz, 169/16= 10.56lbs, Round it up to 11lbs. Yep that’s my guess 11lbs of weeeeeeeed.
(that doesn’t really seem like alot, but I’m really stoned right now….)

Cripes if we are going to play trivia
here is one of my favorites:
Name the three players in MLB history who have hit a homer before 20 and after 40. Here is a hint, they ALL played for the Tigers.

I watch too many Tigers games, and love the trivia...
Ty Cobb, Rusty Staub, and after last season Sheffield. And after next season Ken Griffey Jr.

Congrats j
you are correct. That is not an easy one and more than one trivia master has been bested by this one!

thanks, not a trivia master...
but I’ll take it, i get the mlb.tv feed every year and watch Tigers games religiously in the summer. See my comment below, I owe it all to Mario.
Buy the way, (pun intended) that subscription is the best $109 I spend a year. Think what the NFL could do if they could sell Internet subscriptions and then play games Thur, Fri And Sun, Mon All live and Recorded on the Net.
Screw You DirectTV. GO LIONS!!!!!!

All right
next, name a player who punted for his team (a regular punter, not an occasional squib kicker) who also returned punts (again, a regular return guy)!

NO CLUE....
Like I said, Not a trivia master. But who is it? That’s a hell of a Player!
Where can We Get One Of Those!

OK, just a thought...
we need someone to run the “Punt Wilcat”!
Think about it, maybe he punts, maybe he shovel passes, maybe he throws to a cover guy lined up outside… I like it.

Two I know for sure.....
Ty Cobb
Rusty Staub
Pudge Rodriguez?
Last I knew, only 2 men had ever hit a homerun before age 20 and after age 40…..Cobb and Staub.

Oops.....I didn't even see j16941's answer.....
Pudge isn’t 40 yet…..duh……
Gary Sheffield……good call j16941!

yeah I remember it from Mario...
it was a trivia question during one of the games this year, it must have been early in the season cause the answer was just the first two. although Mario mentioned that once Sheffield hit a homer he would be in the club too.
