Megatrons not the same!!!!
I dont know if his knee is still bothering him or he is just plain not having any fun.The lions only have one victory and I understand all the players are beat-up by this time of the year ,but when you look on the sidelines at least most of the players are still enjoying playing the game.CJ looks like he's going through the motions and does'nt seem to have a rapport with Staff. In my opinion I think he's just not happy in Detroit.

I am sure he is not happy.
Who would be happy losing every week. His rapport with Staff may be a little strained but I think he believes Staff should be looking his way more often, and maybe he should. But I would think with time and more games together, things will get better.
As for the rest of the team enjoying playing the game, maybe the rookies. I got the distinct feeling most of the players gave up last week. Staff was working his ass off and his own 0-line couldn’t even help the guy out with putting a shoulder pad back in his uniform. If any of the players looked like they where going through the motions, it would be the o-line.
Where's the rest of the team?
All I saw was a kid playing quarterback who never gave up and the rest of the team just quit on the guy. He was getting the hell kicked out of him and they couldn’t even fix his jersey!!!
What is that about? Coach should sit the whole line next week. If that rookie is willing to give it his all then the team should be behind him or find another place to NOT play.
As far as Calvin Johnson goes, he’s getting the ball thrown his way. He needs to make the catches. Time to let him go. If he can’t play due to injury, then sit him. If he can play, then it shows me he just quit on Stafford like the rest of the team. Trade him now before every other team sees him for the T.O. that he is becoming.
If they sat the whole line
I think Staff would take a couple more hits. Not many more, but a couple.
The T.O. that he is becoming?
That is just plain crazy talk…..of course the guy is upset. However, he can’t blame Stafford for not getting him the ball. The blame rests on the guys who are supposed to be giving the rook time to read defenses and throw the ball. If the kid had more than 3 seconds to get set, he would throw to CJ a lot more. However, he is forced to get rid of the ball so quickly that he has to throw the shorter passes. To throw the ball downfield, with any accuracy, a QB has to be able to set his feet. Stafford is on the run a majority of the time when he is throwing. The offensive line sucks. If Stafford is not flushed out of the pocket and throwing on the run, he is forced to step up and throw. All the same, he does not have time to make a full set of reads, set his feet, and throw the ball downfield.
I would say he's frustrated.
But I don’t think anyone can blame him. He’s on pace to have 30 losses in the last two seasons…wouldn’t that wear on anyone? I don’t think there is a problem with his attitude, I do think he has to start making catches that made him worthy of the second overall pick. He’s had a few bad games on a very bad team…he’ll be fine.

That's only part of the problem.
The other part is the lack of ball catching WR’s or stud RB to benefit from CJ stretching the field. This is perhaps more of CJ’s value, and the Lions just can’t benefit from it.
How is he becomming TO?
He hasn’t said a word to the media about anything or made a complete idiot of himself. He keeps his mouth shut
It happens to all of them
Most recently with Roy Williams. CJ will be asking for a trade sooner or later if this team doesn’t start winning soon.
Id accomidate him if he does....
…..we a re stil a few years away and if we could get a 1st and 3rd and a 1st next year for him id say thank you for your time……I mean I love the guy but we dont have the talent to use him to his best ability

Whoa when I said shit like that people jumped on me like I was committing blasphemy.
But I have been saying all year if he doesn’t give his all or looks like he wants out then trade him. He’s not un-tradable. At this point he isn’t even a top 15 receiver.
That is not his fault
We can not trade Calvin Johnson…..period. He is definitely tradeable, but we would be trading away our best player. We can not afford to be trading away proven commodities for unproven rookies. It would be a big mistake to let CJ go. Fuck him and the horse he rides if his ego is so big that he can’t wait patiently, play his hardest, and do what he can in the face of adversity. I say the Lions force him to stay, regardless of what he does, until we have had at least a few more years to build something around him. He is under contract until 2013, and we can franchise tag him for 2 years after that. If the Lions do not have something to work with by 2013, THEN maybe we could consider trading him. He would be about 28 years old, and his trade value will remain high. “A 1st and a 3rd (this year) and a 1st next year” would not do enough good for us to even consider trading CJ.
Guaranteed.....
We start winning, and CJ will be all roses and smiles……that is all it will take to change his attitude. We need time to make that possible. DO NOT TRADE CJ!

I agree.
As much as I hate watching all of my worst fears realized with the drafting of Matt Stafford, he is absolutely going to need all the help he can get. You CANT trade away the best player on your team, let alone one of the best players in the league. I’m not saying this doesn’t happen (ala Jay Cutler), but it would not be the right thing to do in this situation. Calvin stays…and learns to like it!

Roy Williams was a blow hard...
Nancy boy who wore/wears full silk gloves to mask his stone hands.
Thinking about that Dallas trade will always brighten my day.
It Is 100 % His Knee....
…..You can see when he runs his routes hes not the same…..trust me a knee injury isnt fun and it wont be 100% til the offseason…..Just the injury nothing else.

I agree
If he could go through last season and still give 100% effort and not turn into a diva / bad attitude WR, then I don’t see a reason to presuppose that he’s somehow turning into a Roy Williams.
It’s got to be frustrating as hell knowing how dominant you can be, and not being able to play like it because your knee isn’t working right.
Plus, he did have 8 catches for 84 yards this past game. Not quite “Calvin Johnson” numbers, but we are getting him involved and getting him the ball.
I just hope he heals up 100% after this season, if not sooner. We need him on all cylinders to help develop Stafford. Without CJ, our passing offense becomes dink-dunk-drop, and that’s a waste of Stafford’s arm.
We can only hope
His knee is the problem.Dont get me wrong if he’s 100% and wants to play for the Lions I want him here till he hangs up the cletes.
I could care less where he "wants" to play
Trading Roy Williams and trading Calvin Johnson are two completely different scenarios. Roy Williams was expendable, and his ability and talent level were not worth what we got out of him. We got the better of that deal. We would not get the better of any deal we could garner for Calvin Johnson. He is far superior to Roy Williams; younger, faster, and stronger. We got a 1st and a 3rd for Roy and a 7th……if we made that same deal for Calvin Johnson, we would be getting the short end of the stick.
Regardless if he is 100% now or not, he will heal in the offseason. We are in the beginning stages of the rebuilding process. We can not afford to attempt to create addition by subtraction in this case. We must build the team around Matt Stafford and Calvin Johnson, not just Matt Stafford.
Did you think Williams was expendable....
after his 82 catch, 1,310 yard, and 7 TD season. I don’t think anyone thought he was at that point. It’s almost the same situation with CJ right now. He had one great year and hasn’t done shit since and looks like he is giving up on the team just like Roy did. We ended up way better off without Roy. I’m not saying we will be better off trading Calvin but if he continues to under perform and act like he’s just not happy here then we may be better off without him. But hopefully we can start winning and he heals up and all this talk just goes away.
It’s all hearsay as to what is wrong and why he looks so down and out right now. Hopefully it’s just his knee and he gets healthy and him and Staff start lighting it up to remind us all why he is our #1 player.
Roy fell off the table
As soon as Calvin Johnson was drafted……so the situation is clearly different.
There is no competition for Calvin whatsoever. His lack of production is not for a lack of desire, it is for a lack of pass blocking and the QB’s ability to see the field, set his feet, and throw the ball. Roy Williams was a guy that gave up because he was going to be relenquished to WR2, behind Calvin Johnson. Calvin Johnson is not giving up, his team is just not good enough at the moment to allow him to shine. In time, he will shine and all will be well. The difference between Roy and CJ is that Roy would have never gotten better……Calvin Johnson will. Roy went to a far better team…..and what has he done since? Not a damn thing.
Hindsight is always 20/20.
And back when he had that season nobody thought he would fall off. That was his third year and everyone thought he was just gonna get better. That’s what I’m saying. Nobody knows what Calvin will be or what his future holds, not even Calvin.
Funny thing is.....
Roy never played a full season in Detroit until 2006 (when he had the season stats you speak of and made the pro bowl), and he never played a full one in Detroit after that (Calvin Johnson was drafted in 2007 and immediately thereafter Roy Williams became a second thought).
Roy was traded to Dallas after week 5 in 2008…..and Calvin Johnson exploded onto the scene with a season that was better than any Roy ever had (in his 2nd season). CJ is heralded by many as the best WR in the NFL, hands down…..and you think he might flop like Roy E(go) Williams?
The reason for that is
a HORRIBLE offensive line that block a soul to save their own lives and a rookie who is still learning the game. Look at how many tosses have been in a bad spot for CJ to go after it. If I had my way our WHOLE OLINE would not have come back after last year for this year. I would of slapped together a whole new line from FA to buy me time this year to get me to the draft. Then Id soley draft OLINE and Dline. Thats it. Those are our 2 worst areas. Shit until you win the battles in the trenches you arent going to win period!!!!! Thats on both sides of the ball. You arent going to score if your RB’s and QB are always flattened on their asses and you damn sure can’t expect a corner to cover a guy all day long from 0 pressure from your Dline. I don’t care if it is christ himself covering the receiver he is going to lose that match up. Fix the lines then worry more about the skill positions. Easy friggin solution.
