Draft Dream or Nightmare?
Just readin' Lions news & dreamin'. Weigh in on this one, y'all: we trade Sims for another 1st round pick to a team needing a ILB (Broncos #16 or Eagles #22). Then--unless we can snag Suh on the first pick--we find a way to bring back big Shaun Rogers who may be suggesting he wants out of Cleveland. If Rogers comes back, we can focus more on OL guys and DBs or safeties. Who sees problems with this? Or more possibilities?
It's not too early to think next year's draft because we're getting pretty banged up. And even if most guys on IR come back next year, can we do better?

No way we could get a first round pick for Sims
He’s undersized and underachieving, and he’s running into injury problems this year. Teams can get bigger, younger, healthier linebackers with more upside in the top few rounds of the draft.
If somebody offered a fourth-rounder for him, I’d be on the fence. Third-rounder I would definitely take, but I don’t think any other team would want to give up that much.
I don’t think Shaun Rogers would want to come back to Detroit even if he got out of Cleveland. I wouldn’t be totally against it if he somehow did, but it would be a short-term fix at NT, to replace Grady Jackson, our other short-term fix at NT.

To be fair
Sims has done real well his first 3 seasons. Maybe (as has been written here) this is not his type of defense. Or maybe he has hit a wall or injuries or whatnot. I mean, he has over 100 tackles in each of his first 3 seasons.. at or near our top tackler in each year. I don’t think he is the albatross people are making him out to be this year. I know everyone loves Levy, but Sims has been good for the Lions for 3 years and it seems odd to single him out for injury problems when I think we have more guys on IR this week then we have suiting up.
That said, no team in their right mind would give up a 1st rounder for him. Unless the injuries stop and he figures out his place in this defense, I see him going away at the end of his contract. Probably to a team like Indy who knows how to use a smaller LB.

first round pick is a possibility
simms played really well his first two year, but had a down year last year. he is still really young. also, even though he is undersized, he might be one of the faster LBs in the league, which is why he was a top 10 pick. still, the max i can see is a very late first round pick (like the 28th pick in the draft or something).
personally, i wouldn’t trade him for anything less than a 2nd rounder. i would much rather have him in the LB rotation than a 3rd round pick.

I hear you IAG
But, people are trying to see positives rights now; and grabbing a franchise Takle (offensive or defensive) sounds better than sharing hateraide and asking for the team to be relocated.
But I will refrain from talking about the draft, just for you. But regarding the trade of Sims, we could not get a 1st rounder from him. Unless we were dealing with Dallas; but I doubt Dallas would trade with us after Roy, Roy, Roy, Roy!

I am a lions fan, a die-hard one at that. But as a football man you NEVER, and i mean NEVER tuck your tail between your legs and say this is it season over. The seasons not over, will we make the playoffs no, but there is plenty to look forward to and enjoy football wise in my opinion.

Me too. Always seems to be the last game of the year and something dumb happens. Hope FOX airs it nationally. I’m out here in Chief’s land.

Did I miss something here????
Chicago wildcard spot? HUH? are we talking about the BEARS? or the Blackhawks?or the Bulls? just curious cause the bears have no shot in hell at the playoffs especially after loosing to the Eagles today… I’m also curious if all those Bears fans are still in LOVE with a certain EX-lions coach?? Does anyone else remember all that smack they were talking about Merinera sauce a couple of months ago??

Pisa Tinoisamoa
is an smarter version of Sims. He was flat out released by the Rams because there was so little interest in him last offseason. We would be lucky to get anything at all in return for Sims.

You know that's asking a little much.
The Draft talk will become rampant about week 16 when we are locked into our draft position. But i’ll pass from posting it.

If Boldin and Marshal don’t get you 1st round picks, Sims won’t

Boldin and Marshall
Are two cry ass bitch babies who have “character issues”.
Sims has no such problem.
You never know what he could get us……however unlikely that it may be for us to get a first round pick out of him.

we don't want to get rid of Simms.
We need all the LB’rs we can keep. But if we could get a couple of picks for hm I would say don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way outta town. Howdy Rev. Sean on a side note: what do you think our record would be if Michigans O-line (esp or center) would of never got hurt this year? Cause I’m sick and tired of listening to all that talk about running coach ROD outta town already. Let this team get a little older an get that constant JR/ SR turnover before we run a very good coach outta town . . . . .again!
