I mean , come on, these were two last place teams dukeing it out for last place. I'm glad the Lions won, but listen to the coach and his comments. Which was something to the effect that "we have so many concerns." I see some real progress in the hitting (when a tackle is made). , I also can see they have not quit , this is real positive. Finally, I think they have the right coach in Schwartz to get the job done. The players and coaches seem to be on the same page. We have found this out to be not so easy to accomplish. I do have some other observations , first, They need a Good running back. Smith is an ave. nfl running back. he does not have power, breakaway speed, and he doesn' t always run the right play, especially on screen plays. This is important to keep a defensive line honest. He is durable and steady though ,and there is something to be said about that. I also think the play calling needs to be addressed.First, as mentioned earlier a good screen- pass play is a must. Second , a good two minute offense that includes all wideouts, using out patterns. Finally, Stafford needs to learn how to buy time so he can get an accurate pass off and forget the hail -mary passes. I hope this doesn't sound like sour grapes. I didn't intend it to. I know this all takes time and with a few more good drafts,we might just have a respectable team. Comments welcomed.
