I've seen enough!

If Stafford is too hurt to play, I don't want them to rush him back. I have seen enough to know that he is the real deal.

I would rather he sits and we lose now, than risk further injury. CJ and Kevin Smith also realize that Matt is a warrior and the real deal. I think those three could become Peyton/Marvin/Edge "Detroit"

Maybe expecting 3 hall of famers is too much, but I would settle for something like Esiason/Brooks/Collinsworth?

Agreed Capitol

Usually a seperated shoulder is a 6 week injury so we may not have a choice. Have to wait until the Lions say something about Staff’s medical condition but I would be surprised if we saw him again this season………….unless of course the injury was nowhere near as bad as expected.

Prediction: get ready for CPep the rest of the way (*****SIGH****)

And I would be fine with it...

I think we will 1 more game with Cpep…pick 2nd or 3rd…take Suh or Okung…grab a couple DLs, a Guard or 2, a speed RB, a possesion WR, a Safety and a hand full of CBs in the draft and through FA and come back next year legitimatly ready to compete for a .500 season.

I am very content to let Pep try and build his trade or FA value the rest of the season and let Matt sit.

better yet

lets let cpepp & stanton split time. give cpepp time to market him (if there is a market…too bad the trade deadline is week six…could have shipped him to pitt)…and give stanton game time so he has experience going into next year …. see what he has and if he can be the number two role to staff

Are you sure letting Pep play will INCREASE his trade value?

I’m expecting quite the opposite. Been that way so far. Let Stanton play. Give him some game experience. I’m tired of all the excuses not to play Stanton.

What? He can’t block a dead gopher? Humph, details.

Now that's interesting.

If he’s really banged up enough where his career would be jeopardized with a few more dings…then the answer is obvious: sit him down.

If he’s just beat up, battered and bruised…I say let him play. Yes, he’s already proven that he’s not a big baby. However, this would be the second time this season he would be shut down for injury. One of the other things asked of this already over-stressed rookie QB is that he be a leader on this team and I guarantee he wouldn’t be the only player out there playing injured. If this team is going to build on this victory (maybe not even with more wins) then I think it’s important that they maintain as much consistency as possible.

More than likely it's the same injury he sustained with his knee

Not sure if its still called a subluxation, but it probably popped out and back in, but since its a non throwing arm and not a weight bearing knee, I think we’ll see him before the season is over.

I agree with not rushing him back – we dont need to get him on the season ending list needlessly, but I definitely wont be watching games with the same fervor if Daunte is under center.

GO STANTON!

With CPep under center I am not nearly as excited to watch. Still will but it won’t be the same without Staff – especially after yesterday.

at least

keep him out of the packers game. they got too much pass rush. let cpep take some beating, and bring stafford back the week after. hes already battered from the vikings game and whatnot, and i dont like the fact that they only have three days of recovery time b4 playing a team like the packs

My Favorite Movie!

Thanks for referencing it. I’m humming “Rise Above It” in my head right now. Good motto for the Lions.

Definitely agree....

….though I am feeling selfish and want to see him play on national television. But it would be smart to sit him if he is hurting in the least.

Agreed.............

Twon I’m with you. Selfishly I would love to see Staff play and beat GB on Thanksgiving. That would be truly amazing.

However I fear his season may be done. This type of injury takes about 6 weeks to recover from. Too bad but hopefully he comes back next year with an even better supporting cast – which he will!!!

GO LIONS!!!!

i had a partial separation once

running a post route from the slot i took a pass in stride…as i was reaching forward to catch the ball & bring it back in i took a helmet shot in the left shoulder. i stayed in thinking it was a stinger. the next play was a run which i was to block down on an end…the minute my left arm touched the d-end my arm fell. there was no strength, i mean zero. the minute i put any resistance against it my arm went limp, barely had the strength to lift shoulder high. now it was only a partial separation…and much different than a three hundred lb lineman landing on it…but i was done…no practice other than runs for three weeks…and only made the fourth just in time to play that week (one full practice if i recall). now, if not healed this could be more serious and recurring…eventually a dislocation or full separation or worse, collar bone separation. we all know this will not be his last hit…i’m fine for him to sit as long as needed.

calvin seemed to bump something, probably his knee on one of the first plays…again, didn’t seem right the rest of the game…despite being very effective…seemed to take longer to get off the ground after each play. this would be his second stint…let it heal…not like we are amidst a wildcard run…let them heal…if we see them again before week seventeen great…if not…let them heal…we need them to be a healthy part of our future…our nucleus. not a la charles rogers.

Schwartz said that there was no structural damage

Type 1 Shoulder Separation:
A type 1 shoulder separation is an injury to the capsule that surrounds the AC joint. The bones are not out of position and the primary symptom is pain.

If there was any damage to one of the important ligaments that stabilizes the clavicle, in addition to the damage to the AC capsule, then it would be a far more significant injury. However, even if the ligament damage was limited to only a partial tear it would not likely require surgery. Typically, surgery in these types of injuries is only necessary when there is a complete ligament tear and the structural damage to the should is severe.

Type 1 and 2 shoulder separations are common injuries in the NFL. I would guess that Stafford will be out for the Thanksgiving game, and maybe even the following game, but he will likely play again this season. I just do not like seeing him get banged up like this.
