Eric Mangini Not Concerned With Pesky Evidence

Nate D. wrote about Mangini earlier, but I thought some things should be brought to everyone's attention that weren't being discussed. He seems grossly uninterested in providing evidence to back up his claims.
We all have pretty much expressed our distaste for Mangini and we are not alone. He is constantly losing respect as a head coach all across the league with his weekly ridiculousness. I guess he is trying to top himself as each week passes, because we saw this one was no different.
Some quotes I found interesting:
- He was asked if the NFL’s competition committee should look into stopping the practice of pretending to be injured to stop the flow of the game. His response = "It’s subjective," he said. "How do you know what is and isn’t an injury?" If you admit it's subjective and that it isn't possible to know whether someone is actually injured or not, why even venture to bring it up? It seems to me that if Stafford doesn't throw the winning TD at the end, we don't hear anything from Mangini about this. He's saying he has no evidence of this, yet brings it up like we should be suddenly skeptical of Schwartz and the team.
- He also felt that the pass interference call at the end of the game was incorrect (no surprise there).
"I can’t control that call," Mangini said. "I haven’t been a part of any calls like that, I haven’t seen it called, where it affected the outcome of a game like it did, but I have absolutely no control over what they call. It’s really not illegal contact when the guy’s out of the pocket or scrambling. But they called it."
Mangini was asked if Poteat was flagged because the ball was in the air.
"Yeah, I guess that’s what they called it for," he said. "I haven’t seen it, haven’t been a part of it. It’s their call. We’ll live with it." So what I am gathering from this is that he never watches NFL games. He hasn't seen a penalty at the end of a game before. So, that would explain why there are a number of official rules that govern such situations. It's not illegal to tackle a WR if the QB is out of the pocket? Is that what I am hearing? So no holds barred simply because time has run out? Tony Dungy commented on this and said that it is absurd to suddenly change the rules because of the time left in the game. Not to mention, Poteat at least admitted that it was one of the those plays that could've been called either way. Though he wasn't giving it to the refs, he wasn't denying it either. Mangini isn't capable of this though. Then, to make it all better....he admits he hasn't even watched the tape, but is still making judgements on the call. Embarrassing admission to his own anti-intellectual nature.
What I am getting from this mammoth waste of space is that he projects everything outward and doesn't seem interested in providing facts for anything he blames on others. Eric, perhaps you should consider the fact that the Browns just aren't that good this year. Maybe you should consider the fact that you blew a 24-3 lead on the road to a young Lions team that is struggling. Perhaps you should consider that you are about to be unemployed and no team will be hiring you again because you have less class than a school on summer vacation.
Lions won fair and square. Suck it up, Eric.

And it's not just him.
There are brown’s fans on every site I have been to complaining to anybody who’ll listen. i just tell them to thank us because we gave them the #1 pick and they clearly need it more than us at this point. At least we already have a ton of young developing talent. They have nothing. I think their cupboards are just as bare as ours were at the end of last year.
If the vice-verse would’ve happened to us we would project the blame inward where it belongs because we have come to realize that that is where it belongs. You control your own team and players and when you lose like that it’s clearly their own fault. The Schwartz & Co. showed they knew what adjustments to make and how to make them and Mangina and the Browns didn’t. Period point blank that is what it all comes down to. We went 0-16 last year and do they think we’ve never had any questionable calls go against us? I can think of about 20 from last year and you never once saw or heard us blame it on that (ok maybe those Minny games last year at least I did but those calls were just asinine). there’s 60 minutes in a football game to execute your gameplan and make adjustments and obviously Mangina and the brown’s don’t get that concept.
So to Mangina and the Brown’s: you stay classy and gracious in defeat.
is it just me
or does mangini sorta remind u guys of george bush. i mean he looks a lot like what a young george bush looked like, plus he is definately as incompetent at his job as bush was with his.
The beginning of the end of the misery
Just so you know Twon
I posted a very similar post on one of the threads on the POD home page…..sorry. I read the home page stuff before I read the fanposts and did not see any comments about this there. I agree that Mangina’s comments show what a class act he is…..what an ass.
He sounds like a twat
I love Schwartz’s comeback: “They don’t know what they’re talking about. You can quote me on that.” YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!

Schwartz is a smart, classy guy. Mangini is an egotistical clueless hardass jerk.
You can quote me on that.
What? He can’t block a dead gopher? Humph, details.
What a whiner.
Really an excuse for a head coach. I think Romeo Crenell was twice the coach for them than Mangini is. Here in Russia we have good proverb describing the likes of Eric Mangini. Idk, maybe there`s an accurate equivalent for it in English. So, my translation will be like “It`s the balls that always prevent bad dancers from good performance”. It may as well be a complete lack thereof, though. Poor poor Erica…
OOOOOPPS!
I forgot to translate it, hope I don’t get in trouble…
To Mangina- is your pussy bleeding?
Yes - I beleived he authored

I guess
It’s allowed to tackle a rec in the end-zone before the ball gets to him. It’s pass-int to every other team but i guess it’s not in Detroit.
to be honest
i was kind of surprised we actually got the call…i knew it was there…but we don’t get those calls
Getting beat on the last play
definitely doesnt help with the good record they have. I guess crying is the only way he can get the Browns management to feel sorry

He better get used to crying....
….I’d say he’s going to be a positions coach from now on.
GO LIONS! RESTORE THE ROAR!
