Around SBN: Dissecting Nick Diaz's Positive Drug Test

I am sorry

But the hit by Sweet Lou Delmas on Jermichael Finley, although late....and although he got a penalty...and although I think he needs to reign it in at times.....was awesome. And its hits like that, that grow reputations...and give WRs alligator arms. I know it was late, and some of you might not like that. But I do.

I think he is already someone that people don't want to meet between the hash marks..in his rookie year.

I hate the call

As a safety, you have to assume when the ball is coming that the wide receiver is going to catch it. So you have to either A) knock the ball away first, or B) knock the receiver the f#$k out. By the time you make that decision, its almost impossible to stop yourself. If the call was from helmet-to-helmet, that’s a whole different issue. But this hit was not that late, and IMO shouldn’t even have been a penalty (though it might’ve been ‘according to the rulebook’).

I’m going to be slightly pissed when his fine comes.

I feel for defensive players in the NFL

they can’t get a break. Between all the no-touching the QB rules and plays like this, I don’t see how they do it. I played defense back in the day and I know how hard it is to stop yourself once you get going full speed. I know that they have to keep these penalties in mind, but I really can’t hold anything against a guy like Delmas on a play like that – he’s just playing hard aggressive football, I can accept that type of penalty. Now the late hit penalties out of bounds, etc. and tussling after the play is over is a different story, but those hits in the heat of the battle are hard to stay away from

It wasn't a late hit

It was a Helmet to helmet Call. And yeah its one of those plays where you go “Dang that was a Good hit! Shouldn’t have done it, but Dang!”

I could care less about the penalty..

I love the nastiness Delmas brings. It is about time that the Lions got one of those players.

If I were a pro football player.....

I would have a separate bank account for the fines that I would most certainly incur….lol. I would be “Mr. Character Issues”, and I would not hesitate to bring the PAIN to any QB. This is football! This is not powder puff, not volleyball, not cheerleading…..FOOTBALL! Professional FULL CONTACT all out MAYHEM! Quarterbacks, if you can’t take the heat get your ass out the kitchen. If you want to get paid the big bucks and be called the “leader” of the offense, then you better damn well be ready and willing to get hit…..hard and often. If you are not, then you better be ready, willing, and able to run or throw the ball before I get there…..because I AM COMING! Delmas was doing what REAL football players DO!! He was playing with reckless abandon and he was intent on FINISHING the play!! You play until the whistle is blown, and I sure as hell didn’t hear no whistle when he made that hit. He does need to reign it in just a little bit though….we can’t have him be suspended for being a repeat offender or anything…..stupid rulebook…..

Screw the penalty.

I love the way he is playing. I am sure by next year, WRs will make it a point to know where Delmas is on the field. I hope Schwartz brings in more guys like Delmas and Follet. Love Dawgs idea of a seperate account for fines. Delmas will need one, and I love it.

You gotta love his enthusiasm and agressiveness

Something to look forward to in the future.

Love how aggressive he is

But those hits take a toll on the body, would hate to see all 3 of our first day picks suffer serious injuries.
