Longest Droughts in Sports ... Part Deux.
The last post the other day looked at Championships, but ... the next step is ... you can't win anything if you don't even make the playoffs, so of the four major sports ... Who has the longest current Playoff Droughts.
1.)27 Seasons MLB Washington Nationals/Montreal Expos (Who had their best season the strike shorten season in which the World Series was canceled. Poor guys)
2.) 23 Seasons MLB Kansas City Royals.
3.) 16 Seasons MLB Pittsburgh Pirates
4.) 15 Seasons MLB Toronto Blue-Jays
5.) 14 Seasons MLB Cincinnati Reds
6.) 12 Seasons MLB Baltimore Orioles
7.) 10 Seasons MLB Texas Rangers
8.) 9 Seasons NFL Detroit Lions
9.) 9 Seasons NFL Buffalo Bills
10.) TIE 8 Seasons Florida Panthers NHL and Seattle Mariners MLB
The Longest streak in the NBA is 5 Seasons between the Knicks, Timber-wolves and Bobcats, but considering in Basketball and Hockey over half the teams make the playoffs. It was destined to be full of Baseball teams and even after the expansion the playoffs, it is a lot of the same teams over and over again. Oh congrats Yankees, sorry you had to wait so long for this one.
It is hard to believe as a fan its been 9 years since Satan in the body of a former NFL'er Matt Millen came to Detroit and with him came the locust and frogs, water to blood, his minion Granholm and by no coincidence the collapse of the auto-industry.
The playoffs would cure so much so a lot of these teams, including our Lions.

Well, once again, at least we aren't on the top of that list.
2009 = The start of the Lions Golden Age (We hope).

Millen only brought 1 locust?
He can’t even get that right. Should have brought more locusts.
What? He can’t block a dead gopher? Humph, details.
