Denver releases Jack Williams...
There is absolutly no reason to no pick this guys up.
They waived him to sign Ty Law and honestly, I think that is a horrible move.
I liked Jack at Kent St and I felt like he was a good value for Denver in the 4th. The move smacks of a team that things they are on the edge of being a super bowl team and looking for "Veteran Leadership"
Jack is at least as good as what we have at Nickle and could possible be good enough to start. I say we go for it, since we have the waiver priority (I think)

I don't think the Lions have the top waiver priority at this moment
I do think this would be a good move, too. He’s young, it would add depth at an injury-plagued position, it would almost be like picking up a draft pick. I’m not saying he’s THE answer to fixing the Lions secondary, but it definitely couldn’t hurt. Bring him in, lets see what hes got, maybe he can be a piece to the puzzle.
It looks like the other SBNation blogs are buzzing about him too..
So he must have some value. I just remember him being very good in college.

He sounds like Philip Buchanon…….talented, but inconsistent.
What? He can’t block a dead gopher? Humph, details.
Hard to be that inconsistant not starting and only being in his 2nd year lol

The waiver wire order was reset on September 28th to reflect the current worst win/loss records in the league.....
The waiver system is only used for players that have less than 4 years experience in the NFL (like Jack Williams). A player with 4 years of experience, who is released, automatically becomes a free agent. I am not sure if it resets every week after that, but I assume it does. Assuming that it does, the current waiver claim priority would be as follows:
32) Indianapolis Colts
31) New Orleans Saints
30) Minnesota Vikings
29) Denver Broncos
28) Cincinnati Bengals
27) Dallas Cowboys
26) New England Patriots
25) Philadelphia Eagles
24) Pittsburgh Steelers
23) Houston Texans
22) New York Giants
21) Arizona Cardinals
20) Atlanta Falcons
19) Baltimore Ravens
18) Chicago Bears
17) Green Bay Packers
16) San Diego Chargers
15) New York Jets
14) Carolina Panthers
13) Jacksonville Jaguars
12) Miami Dolphins
11) San Francisco 49ers
10) Buffalo Bills
9) Seattle Seahawks
8) Washington Redskins
7) Oakland Raiders
6) Detroit Lions
5) Kansas City Chiefs
4) Tennessee Titans
3) Cleveland Browns
2) St. Louis Rams
1) Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Thats not too bad, we should be able to get him...
If the coaches want him…

Talent = bring him in
2009 = The start of the Lions Golden Age (We hope).
Zack Follett: he will hurt your mind.
Maybe bring him in
We have talent … what we need is a overpriced veteran leader to get us to that “2nd overall pick” type.
I could barely type that with a straight face. I vomited a little in my mouth.
Some info on him
Track speed and exceptional jumping ability. … Strong for his size, he’s one of the few small corners with a decent bubble. … Changes directions quickly and sticks to receivers. … Reads the quarterback well and will come off his man to make a play. … Will plant and drive to the ball — and make the play (13 career interceptions). … Good reaction to the tipped ball. … A threat to take interceptions back to the end zone. … Very aggressive cut blocker against the run (70 solo tackles in ’07, five forced fumbles in ?06). … Can also get off a receiver block to wrap up a ballcarrier in the open field. … Typical Tampa-2 corner… Very good special teams coverage player.
I still shudder everytime I hear tampa 2, but even if he’s not good enough to play, he’s probably better than our worst special teams player, so bring him in
A great athlete…Excellent speed and quickness…Outstanding leaper..Good hands and ball skills…Solid instincts and awareness..Reads and reacts well and he has a burst to close…Is very strong…Tough and physical…Gets a good jam at the line of scrimmage…Willing to come up and support the run..A hard worker…Team leader."]A great athlete…Excellent speed and quickness…Outstanding leaper..Good hands and ball skills…Solid instincts and awareness..Reads and reacts well and he has a burst to close…Is very strong…Tough and physical…Gets a good jam at the line of scrimmage…Willing to come up and support the run..A hard worker…Team leader.
