Lions Blacked Out Again

I originally expected Sunday's game against the Cardinals to be closer to a sellout than some of the games that have already been blacked out this season because it's been a while since Thanksgiving, which is when the Lions last played at Ford Field.  That wasn't the case, though.  More than 9,000 tickets were available for Sunday's game as of yesterday, and it is now officially blacked out.  The Lions didn't release an updated number of available tickets today, but you can go ahead and assume that there wasn't much of a change since yesterday.

Sunday will mark the fourth blackout in seven home games for the Lions this season.  The final home game of the season is in a couple weeks against Chicago.  Originally I expected there to be a chance for this game to be sold out because it is the season finale and because of how many Bears fans would probably make the trip to Detroit, but like the Lions, Chicago won't be playing for anything, either.  Given that, it feels like the Bears game will be blacked out as well.

If the Bears game is blacked out, that will make 5 blackouts in 8 home games, same as last year

And the entire NFL only had 9 blackouts last year. We had more blackouts than the rest of the league combined.

What? He can’t block a dead gopher? Humph, details.

Point? I'm not trying to make a point. No point

Just informing the unwashed masses. Here’s some soap.

I’ll be watching the game regardless. That’s what loyal Lions fans do.

I'm just glad...

I could grab the Arizona D off waivers in my league. It’s the semis and I need the points!

I get to watch...

… because, I’m in Arizona and it’s a road T.V. game for the Cardinals. Hell, I even took off from work. Bad move on my part. This will be sickening. Cardinals – 42 * Lions – 7.

Yup

I expect another game similar to the Ravens game

I'm stuck with shitty streams here in the Big Apple

So I will likely be on 97.1 for this one and watching for “FUCK” and “OH NO” on POD this Sunday. I’m getting engaged this Saturday too but I will never miss a Lions game not even for my future wife.

Congrats NYC

I just hope your future wife knows about this stipulation…lol.

Also, I’ll be here dreading the inevitable pangs of dread which will happen during the game.

inevitable is right Hyper

whether in the US or AUS the Lions don’t stand a chance in this one. My wife will be surprised as hell since she thinks I am gong to propose to her at Ford Field!!! Seriously

NYC

You’ll still have the Lions, even after your marriage ends. 55% of them do.

Huh??

Tons of places to catch Lions games in the city. And most of the ones I go to, I don’t even get things thrown at me!

this is what it takes

If we want the Lions to turn around and make us proud, we have to get a new owner. This is how it’s done. It might be painful but it’s necessary. We need to keep up this pressure on Ford until he realizes either a) he needs to put a winner on the field or b) he needs to sell the team.

Ford

The biggest problem is Ford’s unwillingness to be involved. He has stuck with people for way to long just look at the Lions history. We need an active owner but not a Jerry Jones, Al Davis, or Dan synder active. More like a Robert Kraft, Bud Foster, or the Saints owner.

Game

I don’t know what we can do to turn this around quickly. We have draft and sign bad for years leaving us with no real base other than Calvin Johnson. I think that we have to give the Schwartz and Mayhew at least 3 years to make the change. I think they can do it, but we all have to be realistic and understand that we would have been lucky to get 5 games this year. Just a few more games to go then we can hope the front office doesn’t do anything stupid like trade Sims or Calvin.

Blackout Win

Maybe I’m wrong, but haven’t the Lion’s two wins come during blacked out games? Can this be a sign for tomorrow?

by craigdb on Dec 19, 2009 1:56 PM EST reply actions

yea they have but the rams was blaked out as well and we lost that

but both wins have came after playing the vikings so i say we play the vikings 8 times next year so we can go 8-8
