This year Lions even better than last

It's this simple people. The NFL will step in this year and demand change (not the kind Obama brought us). This is overdue and WILL happen this season end. I expect the NFL will demand the fords make appropriate moves that will get the team to at least 500 or the Fords will be forced to sell. Yes I said Forced.

The longer you fools overlook the obvious problem here and keep fuelling the fire by going to the games. A good business man like Ford will keep cashing the checks and do little in return. (as he’s proven)

I wish I didn't have to report this to you Einstein’s but it needed to be said. I congratulate you on 4 blackouts out of 7. This is a step in the right direction.

Either the Fords are the laughing stock of the NFL owners or they ALL laugh at Michiganders for putting up with this crap. Do you want to participate in this BS and be laughed at? I don't

Down with the Fords! Or else!

A true pioneer

You have opened my eyes, sir.

I highly doubt anyone here at this blog had any inkling that the ownership of this team was a major issue. That said, I might be mistaken, but I’m pretty sure the NFL can’t force the Fords to sell the team.

I assure you, friend, nothing you put in this post is news to anyone, Lions fan or otherwise. I’m not sure if you meant it as a backhanded joke or if you really are that clueless, but either way, please never post here again. Thanks. :)

they can but not b/c they suck

ford would have to be seen killing some on or raping kids or selling meth out of the bathrooms ..really any thing that makes the nfl look bad

Just Remember matt... what would Daunte do??

Nate

can Sean or someone just delete jibberish like this?

I was out of line...sorry

Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, and to express it publicly. I was being a jerk for saying to delete the post.

He should post as often as he wants; I will just remember not to read them.

No, I was referring to KDawg's comment (I'm assuming he is referring to the whole rbanner saga)

There are some people who have opinions that I think are moronic, but then are people who are just straight up dbags (like this guy). I would just delete the post, but then the comments (and this conversation) will be gone with it.

Don't know what rbanner is

but I re-thought my question to Nate about deleting the post, and realized that I was being a douche for even saying that. Yes, the guy was a douche too, but I had no right either.

As soon as we get to that level of thinking on a blog, we might as well be in China. Anyway, y’all are great.

Has anyone ever tried to get a block of seats together or organize a pre-game tailgate for POD members? It would be fun to meet guys like Sean, Nate, KDawg, BennieBlades, Latif, and the rest of the gang.

….or, is that just a powder keg?

I think it would be great too!

Maybe one of us can write an article to gauge interest from the community. We should do it before the season ends as I am sure that some of the guys will be inactive during the off season, yes?

It would be awesome to get 10-20 die hards together for a game. I am sure we could get group sales to open a block of tix for us with a special promo code so that we could all sit together.

We will obviously pick a realistic win…it probably won’t be a whole lot of fun to get everyone together for a Philly or Giants game. You never know though…every year is a new year.

This group has got to be one of the greatest groups of Lions fans ever…AND THAT CAN’T BE ANYTHING BUT FUN!!

But the true diehards (like me…at least until I find a job, if I ever do) are here all year.

cool. we have to do it.

like I said, 10-20 POD guys would be an awesome game. And I usually hate watching the games with people. But, POD’rs understand my passion! :-)

yeah......

I highly doubt the NFL can/will force them to sell…….but I can see Ford’s lazy ass selling the team because of poor attendance/revenue rather then doing the right thing and working hard to make this team look like a real NFL franchise. At least the people he put in charge (even if they were Millen’s flunkys……talking about lazy) seem to be willing to put the effort into rebuilding this team.

Hey Jackass

Yeah you author boy……

You have the gull to come here and call us fools, and sarcastically insult us by using the name Einstein in a derogatory manner, yet you have only made 1 post and 1 comment on this blog? Who the fuck do you think you are? You don’t know anyone here from Adam, and you certainly don’t know what we think about anything to do with the Lions, the front office, or the ownership! Why don’t you take some time to catch up, by reading before you let your dick washers flap in the breeze. Until then, have a coke and a smile and STFU!

Einstein

it is “Einsteins” not “einstein’s”

I know everyone wants to constantly put blame on Ford but…

if I were Mike Holmgren or a Parcells and I was looking for a management job, i think Ford would be the kind of owner I’d be looking for. He has shown that he will stay out of your shit and let you do your thing for the most part. Even when you are taking big risks like drafting Big Mike Williams, etc. You don’t have to expect micromanagement—like Jones trying to shift depth chart by making Marion Barber as a “closer” RB in a timeshare? There are plenty of examples of owners infringing and getting their noses into the business that should be left to coaching staff. I mean, really, if you want to coach, spend 20-30 years involved in college/pro coaching staffs—don’t hire someone and then tell them how to split reps for your backs. A more problematic owner than a guy like Ford (and us) who are pretty much aware that they know dick about the technical side of NFL football, is the owner who thinks he knows what he is doing.

Plus, Ford has enough patience and (apparently $$$) to give you PLENTY of time to show your stuff. He gave Millen too long, but don’t you think that shows he doesn’t panic when things aren’t going so well. I think we can fairly evaluate that Millen after he had time to settle in his personnel in and make the changes.

If I am putting blame anywhere, I would put it just a little lower on the food chain.

Great post!

Although most fans don’t know it, the Lions are regarded by coaches and GM’s alike as a premium job. I heard several former coaches and analysts say that last year during our search.

…for all of the reasons you mentioned.

Just give me 25 guys on the last year of their contracts; I'll win a pennant every year....Sparky Anderson

by footstock on Dec 17, 2009 6:48 PM EST up reply actions

clearly Ford aint leaving

we need to deal with it…

at least he spends money and we have one of the best stadiums/training camps/coachin staffs in the league….

we need talent period… he does not make the decisions?…well …errr… his staff does with …err ,,,,minor input from him?….. hmm…. maybe he gives the thumbs up???.. who knows….

but anyway.

yes,,,,,, Millen sucked… Ford was stubborn to make a change… change has happened…. the Lions simply need talent… it won’t happen overnight… but if the drafts, Jim, and Mayhew keep doing what they are… the Lions will get there… Mayhew seems different from the other GM’s,,, i think he really wants to get this team going… or he loses his job… the pressure is on him and Jim to right the ship… to pad his resume

go or don’t go to games … it won’t change things unless there’s a true commitment to boycott them… has he threatened to sell this year with horrible attendence?….. no… even with minimal fan support the NFL has $$$..they won’t allow the Lions to fail… one of the earliest franchses .. we will have to watch and see what happens.. diehard fans like me are interested in what moves they make to improve the team

do you guys see that they are trying to improve? we can’t control injuries… clearly if Pettigrew, Smith, Stafford and CJ are at full strength we have a better chance to win offensively… Pettigrew in my opinion was the biggest loss … i think he is a CJ2 waiting to happen until we get better WRs…..I believe Jim means business… there will be more changes… he’s not a Marinelli and Mayhew is no Millen… the D needs help …

the offseason like the last offseason may be more exciting than the actual season…..

until then GO LIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GO LIONS in 2010! the transformation starts now.. they have much to do.
