Depends on what position the best player plays.....
…..If he plays oline or dline never….if he plays Wr then yes.

It really does depend on position.....
….on whethere you will trade your best player and also what you can get.

80 draft picks?? really??
My point was that every player has a trade value, but some players are so valuable to our team that there’s no point in speculating about getting rid of that player, but hypothetically, if somebody offered enough, everybody has a price. We can debate about how ridiculously high that price is, or not. I don’t want to trade away our best player, but if somebody offers enough picks, enough is enough.
Okay, suppose Left Tackle, critical position, and he’s one of the best Left Tackles ever. You’re the Seahawks and you just drafted Walter Jones a couple years ago. Somebody offers their first four picks in every single draft for the next 20 years.
Do you honestly say “No”? This seems like a no-brainer. You can easily trade up to get the best tackle every single year if you want to, and you still have picks left over to improve other spots. Now, today, Jones would have been about to retire, and you still have an extra pick in the first round, an extra pick in the second round, an extra pick in the third round, and an extra pick in the fourth round in every single draft for the next eight or ten years!! That’s an unrefuseable offer.
My point was twofold: 1. If somebody offers enough picks (whatever you define “enough” to be), and then they offer more, and more, and more, eventually you get a trade value that we should not refuse. 2. There’s almost no point speculating about it, or trying to trade away our best player, because it’s just extremely unlikely to happen. We should focus more on keeping good players who improve our team, and building through the draft with the picks that we have.
Im just saying that no player....
……is untradeable……Toronta just traded its best player in Roy Halladay…..I really dont see why you say that I cant say no?……Players get traded everyday…..I love MEGA but I dont put a hugh value on WRs is all…..I really dont think a team should ever draft a WR in the top 10……thats just me maybe you feel differently…..Im just saying if you get the rightoffer for Mega you trade him….Plain and simple.

Well It Does....
……I dont put a high value on WR…..On understand your point about trading up to get the best ol and thats valid….Im just saying that I would have never drafted mega at number 3 but thats me….i would never draft a wr in the top 10….Will we tarde Mega probably not….Should we probably not unless its a deal we cant turn down and thats the point ive been making on all these different topics.

Personally, I'm of the belief that any position can be picked in the top ten
I don’t look at the draft by position, I look at talent. If there is a WR who has a HUGE amount of potential and skill as well as fitting your team at the moment, well then you take him. The best players from every position (apart from maybe FB) are crucial. Sure, WR’s rely on the QB to give them the ball, but a truly great WR can make average QB’s better by being open, making tough grabs, beating double and triple coverages. Those sorta things are valuable. You don’t discriminate when it comes to talent, you just gotta have it.

so you would take a younger verson of hanson in the top 10??
Just Remember matt... what would Daunte do??
Probably not
But if you proved to me that the guy could kick FG’s from 60+ 9/10 times, I’d say yes.

I can't vote for any of those choices.
I would vote for #2, but it’s not stupid to TRY to see if someone will give you the farm like Dallas did last year. In fact, I’m sure there are many, many calls like this that owners make back and forth to each other in the offseason. It would be stupid to not shop around.
Just livin' the dream...
I voted never
Only because the risk is too great. It worked for Dallas in the Herschel Walker deal but it’s very, very risky IMO. We know what we have with our un-named best player. Try to rebuild this team through the draft and FA and remain patient while marking progress. The problem is you can’t change regime’s every 3 years or trading away your best player will never work anyway. Stick with the Schwartz regime, note the progress and build through the draft and FA.
That’s just my opinion.

I like how Schwartz put it..
when your trying to rebuild you dont get rid of your best players..enough said

Yup....
…….Unless the deal is to good to pass up…..Then thats dumb becasue your trying to rebuild and multiple good players is better then 1.

it would have
to be an outstanding deal cause we would just have to spend one of those picks on a wr

No one is untouchable
But I dont believe trading CJ away is very smart. Now, I wasnt against trading away Granderson. Because of the talent we received in return, I was infuriated that Chancey was sent packing. And to be honest I still am. Now, if we had received something other than the cancer that was Iverson my view could be different. It all depends on what is being added.
Look at FSU, though I despise the college I feel for Bowden. The man is actually a great human being, that college was a POS when he took over and look what he turned it into. Have they slipped the past decade? Yes, but he deserves to be at the helm of that team for better or worse. Because where they are now, is still better than where they were before he took over. No one is untouchable.

Barry Sanders was untouchable...
The only one of my lifetime in my opinion.
Just livin' the dream...
Probably......
…….maybe a guy like Herman Moore as well…….But I dont think any wrs are untouchable.

A GREAT player is untouchable if you want him more than ANYTHING ANYBODY can offer you
Barry Sanders was untouchable.
Matt Stafford is untouchable.
Calvin is untouchable.
We already have Staff and Calvin. There is NOTHING ANYBODY can offer me that I want more than that. I voted for the 1st option: NO DEAL! But 80 picks seemed a bit low. I wouldn’t trade Staff or Calvin for 180 picks.
Don’t take my Stafford and Calvin away from me! You can’t have them! They’re mine!
Mine! Mine! Down! Down! Mine! Mine!

Nice try n4ry4. seems like you have stimulated even further discussion. LOL
The cure for this particular form of sickness is to be in the race for the playoffs.
That would at least delay this foolishness until the offseason.
+1
The cure for all this is simple: WIN
