2009 Draft

With all of the 2010 draft talk, and the trade CJ nonsense I thought I could bring a little light to the gloom.

With hindsight being 20/20 and all; if the 2009 Draft was to be redone, there would be some obvious changes. Especially with which players would be available to us. Because, and get this our Front Office Knows what it is doing!! Some of the players we chose would have gone much sooner. Levy, Delmas could be 1st rounders. Slammin Sammy could have gone in the 2nd round etc. etc.

Though there are a couple different scenarios that would have made this class stellar, I am not going to complain. I am ecstatic that there are articles written like the one below. Follow the link please.

I like BP, and what he could mean for us in the future, but if we had taken Oher that would have eliminated the glaring need to address the o-line in the first couple rounds in the 2010 draft. But I like BP, and think the trio of Stafford, CJ, and BP will allow us to cheer on Sundays for a long time. Also D. Williams could be explosive when he catches on, but we could have taken Mike Wallace (if they were set on drafting a WR in the 3rd) and could have helped Staff THIS year with a legit pass catcher. We don’t know D. William’s ceiling though. Not willing to call him a bust yet.

But another year of solid drafting and this team could start to pick up steam.  Let’s keep up the positive spirit guys, this is a rebuilding year. Look at the good things, and what we have to look forward to. GO LIONS!

yup.....

….Thats why would should try and trade a guy like Ernie Sims to get another ick and maybe some otehr guys……Schwartz used to be a scout and this front office knows what its doing…..Weve got 8 picks…..id love to trade down if we cant get suh and pick up a couple picks maybe get up to 10 or 11.

Bennie I have to ask.

You seem to be at the head of the Lets trade Ernie club. Just curious, what is it you don’t like about him. He works hard and seems to play well to me. Even if Levy is better than him, and he very well may be, should we not keep him for depth? Should we not give him some time to transition from a Tampa 2 to Gunners D?
I know he has been hurt this season, and who hasn’t, so I am sure this has slowed his progress a bit. Not to mention, that also might lower his trade value even lower. Just not sure we would get any type of trade that would be worth more than keeping him for depth.
Not trying to jerk your chain, just curious about why you want to trade him so bad.

b/c we can get a starter for him rather then him seting on the bench..

would you rather have the sub par CB in the game out there playing or a sub par sims back seting on the bench??

Just Remember matt... what would Daunte do??

Really?

You think another teamis going to give us that high of a draft pick for someone that we don’t consider a starter on the Lions? I highly dought that.
IMO, I don’t believe he is sub par. Give him a solid healthy year in the new system, and then judge him. If Levy beats him out, he is a solid backup that already knows the defense, something this team is also in need of.
But I can’t say I would not trade him at all. A trade that would give us a solid starter, either a draft pick or player for player, I could see that. Like I said, I don’t see any teams giving use that type of deal.

we can get a 3rd easly

and with how stacked this draft is and how well we drafted 09 we could get a starter easly.. sims is a grate LB if was in a tampa 2 like he should be he would be doing grate.. even if he dosnt go to a tampa 2 we can still get good pick for him..

i was taling to one of my budeys who is a eagles fan and he said he would trade a 2nd and 6th for sims

Does your friend own the Eagles?

Does he at least have some parmesan cheese? Grated cheese is great.

I’d listen to offers for Sims, but I’m not holding my breath.

What? He can’t block a dead gopher? Humph, details.

no he does not.. but there has allso been fans in here offering

desnt stuff the ravens fans said 2nd and 4th.. that would be hard to pass up if we drafted like last year thats 2 starters for a back up good deal to me

I would surely accept a 2nd and 4th for Sims.

A Ravens fan may offer that, but I don’t see the Ravens or any other team given us that much for Sims.

lets not get our hopes up too much

not to be pessimistic or anything, but given the track record, the front office needs one or two more drafts to convince me that they know how to draft
