Ramsey.. Culpepper replacement?

http://freep.com/article/20091226/SPORTS01/91226025/1049/sports01/Lions-sign-QB-Ramsey-to-sub-for-Stafford

great move Jim and Mayhew...

Ramsey could be Culpepper's replacement!  He's 30 years old, young, with no problems.   If Stanton falters Ramsey could be a great 2nd stringer.  Culpepper is gone for 2010 and Ramsey and STanton could battle for the 2nd string position.  They got a few games to battle it out.   May the best QB win the back up spot.

I used to use him in Madden as a backup

Good arm and accuracy for a backup. Good vanilla backup. Emphasis on the word backup. If Staff goes down again, he could be servicable as a …….backup. I like this move.

What? He can’t block a dead gopher? Humph, details.

Anything is better than CPep

Ramsey though?? Well it could be worse I suppose. OL better protect Staff a lot better next year!!

Ramsey is a good clipboard holder

He can be #3 behind Stanton next year.

Thoughts on Chad Pennington or Jeff Garcia?

I don’t like using draft picks for a backup when there are serviceable vets out there.

Pennington is like a coach on the field

and would be great in working with Staff.

I would take a smart vet like Pennington anyday. Pass on Garcia, he always makes noise because he thinks he should be the starter wherever he goes.

Garcia made noise here last time, he won’t want to come back and we won’t want to have him back. Pennington may still want to start too, but if not, I’d take him. Mark Brunell might be a more realistic target.

Child please...mark brunelle?

the guy has an AARP card. Maybe we should work out Jeff George while we are at it. lol.

Just having fun with you…but we have to be able to do better than that.

Mark Brunelle??

Is he still in the NFL?? I wouldn’t mind that pickup honestly though and just pray that he doesn’t actually have to play in a game

not expecting him to play in a game

3rd QB, mentor, not #2 QB.

I like Brunell

But I think he retires in NO, he’s been there a minute, and it’s a winning organization.

Pennington would be fantastic to have as a backup, but he’s a career starter, and I see him retiring before he gets to sit on the bench all year.

i see jasen campbell honstley

and i agree dont draft a qb til staff is 35 esh

So, you dont think the Lions should draft a QB

in the next 11 years? unrealistic, I say take one in when Staff hits year 4 or 5. Need someone on your bench to develope. in case of injuries etc.

I have always liked Pat Ramsey

but I want Thunder Dan Lefevour to inexplicably fall out of the draft and we get him as an undrafted FA….a guy can dream can’t he?

Someone will draft him, you know this.

I like Ramsey off the bench.

Plus he can teach Drew a thing or two… or three.

by CLF on Dec 28, 2009 11:06 AM EST reply actions

I'd be ok with Ramsey off the bench and Brunell to mentor them

Unless we can find better cheap. Stanton isn’t going to want to stay, and the Lions may just be letting him play out his contract here.

After Stanton's performance.............

he may not be in the NFL too much longer. He reminds me of Mike McMahon and we all know what happened to him.

Yeah good comparison

Two QB’s I liked who had a good deal of heart, but just never made it.

Although I think McMahon spent some time with the Cowboys…
