Lions Sign Quarterback Patrick Ramsey

The Lions have decided to fill Matthew Stafford's spot on the roster with quarterback Patrick Ramsey, who was signed by the team on Saturday.  Ramsey has played for the Redskins, Jets, Broncos, and Titans in his eight-year career.  In Detroit he will serve as the team's third-string quarterback for the final two games of the season.  After that, though, who knows what will happen with the quarterback position.

Next year Stafford will obviously be the starter, but behind him it is pretty up in the air.  Will Daunte Culpepper stay with the team?  Will Drew Stanton be brought back?  Will they keep Ramsey around as a backup?  Some of these questions will greatly depend on how Stanton plays these last couple weeks of the season, but at least one has already been answered for me.  Culpepper has shown that he just isn't very good, both as a quarterback and as a teammate, so I hope he is done in Detroit after this season.  For Stanton, a lot will depend on how he plays today and next week.  And for Ramsey it really depends on if the other QBs return.  He could perhaps be a good QB to have as a backup or third-stringer, but that will largely depend on if Culpepper and Stanton stay with the Lions.

Decent QB

He is a pretty decent QB who is nothing more than a back up. He had some good games in his career but Stanton is way better. Culpepper is a bum. I hate to say it but his days are over. He had a great line with the Vikings which probably made him as good as he was. He goes to the Vikings then the Raiders now in Detroit and he cant do anything. I wish him well but he should be done in Detroit. Stanton number 2 with Ramsey the 3 next year. Or Stanton as the 2 and draft a guy.

He is allright

He is a vet and can help out Staff a bit if he stays as a Lion next year. Plus, if we need him, he might prove at least serviceable.

2009 = The start of the Lions Golden Age (We hope).
