Around SBN: Raiders' GM Begins The Purge

Too Early.... Maybe but thats what Lions fans do right.

I know no one wants to start reading the mock drafts, but tis the season to start the daydreaming. I’ve been slow at work so I spend most of my extra time day dreaming who could and should be on this Detroit Lions team.

RD 1: Ndamukong Suh DT/ If not available: Gerald McCoy DT

RD 2: Mike Iupati OG/ If not available: Brandon Ghee CB or Javier Arenas CB/KR

RD 3: If we get Iupati then I would go Kyle Wilson CB, but if we get Ghee then I would go Mitch Petrus OG.

RD 4: Justin Woodall S/If not available Chris Hall C or Ted Larsen C

RD 5: John Fletcher DE

RD 5: Brandon Carter OG

RD 6: Taylor Price WR or Brandon Banks WR

RD 7: Dennis Landolt OT

***Then of course there is that scenario where we trade Calvin Jonson for the first ten picks in the draft but Im not ready to work out all of those picks… ha ha just playing don’t hurt me***

I would of went DE higher but I do think that Schwartz/Mayhew will finally land a big name Free Agent DE that will make us very happy.

speaking of DE

if Osi is right and he isn’t a giant next year we Have to seriously chase number 72 I don’t care what the cost is he is more than worth it he will instantly fix are pass rush and help open up avril on the other side if he wad avril suh hill and osi on the D line it would be one of the best lines in the NFL

Good mock

i think if Suh is gone, the Lions will pick Eric Berry over McCoy

by JazzyBBP on Dec 29, 2009 5:14 PM EST reply actions

I couldn't agree with you more JazzyBBP

The Lions will take Berry over McCoy. The secondary needs help and Berry is the “Jim Schwartz type of safety”. Berry and Delmas would be the best safety tandem in the NFL; possibly ever.

I'd rather we look at DE at little earlier

Maybe in the 4th instead of those Centers. Other than that, the position picks seem okay.

I agree....

….DE is always more important the CB…..Id say get CD in 2nd or 3rd….If we get a solid pass rush are corners suddenly look much better.

ha ha ya...

i feel ya just they had 4.25 to 4.3 speed i like that, marc mariani WR could be a poor mans wes welker

I like Freddie Brown

From Bowling Green…..that kid is a stud and if he is there in the 4th or 5th we better take him.

by BennieBladesFan on Dec 29, 2009 7:44 PM EST up reply actions

I think we need to look at drafting another WR

Not high by any means, but someone to improve our rather weak receiving corp….we need someone other than Grew to take attention off CJ.

Amazing that we need to upgrade at WR.

After all the picks we have dedicated to it in the near past. Thanks once again Millen.

Excellent Mock Gyorick!

I like Asamoah and Johnson and Render more than Petrus for a Guard in the third round and what do you think about Center JD Walton of Baylor [6’3" 305] in the fourth? I have been hearing some great things about him.
I would skip Brandon Carter in the fifth and look for the best available RB.

But I love the strategy of your first three picks.

appreciate it

i think they would all be good prospects really just get some bodies in the facility training i like. The only reason i didnt go running back was cause i would rather just deal with who we have with smith and morris or whoever else would like a job at RB. build the rest of the team and then snag a big name RB in the future pull a little bit of the broncos style under shanahan

Running Back

You need to have a running back in this mock to compliment/replace Smith if he isn’t back from his Knee injury

by Puntordie on Dec 30, 2009 1:26 AM EST reply actions

I'm down Gyorick

I agree that Mayhew and Schwartz are gonna land a pretty big name in FA. Don’t know if it will be DE but it will likely be on the defensive side of the ball. Only one problem though: who in their right mind would come to Detroit as a FA??? It’s gonna take a lot of $$$$. Not everyone (Foote and KP) have ties to the area.

In the nfl, it only take $1 more...

than another team is willing to pay. Would you give up $500,000 so that you could play somewhere you like?

Not me…my team colors are GREEN!
