Mock draft

This is a bit of a pipe dream but could possibly happen.

I think St.Louis may go Bradford because the QB position is their BIGGEST need by far. Plus they already have a top 2 draft pick on their dline.

So the SUHeepstakes begin.

Trade #2 to Tampa Bay for #4 and #42.

Trade Ernie Sims and a 5th round pick to Oakland for 2nd round pick

Draft:

#4: Eric Berry, FS/CB, Tennesee: Honestly I do not think you could pass Berry, He may well be the best player in this draft. Comparisons to Ed Reed and Troy Polamalu. I would take him at #2 but since they could get him at 4, might as well trade back. Berry and Delmas could be one of the best safety combos EVER. (Starter)

#34. Carlos Dunlap, DE, Florida: Huge fall off because of the DUI. I dont think it makes him a worst football player, so this would be a great pick up this late. Could start from day 1. (Starter)

#40. Cameron Heyward, DT, Ohio State: A big body, 6'6".  Who will get bigger in the NFL. Could be a great tandem with Sammie Hill in the future, as soon as Heyward gains some weight and Hill gets stronger. (Starter)

#42. Jason Fox, OT, Miami  : Great value pick here, could step into the guard position and start from day 1, sooner or later taking over Jeff Backus' spot. (Starter)

#66.Trevard Lindley, CB, Kentucky: A great corner, could be gone in the 2nd. A possible starter.

#98. John Jerry, OG, Ole Miss: A starter who could start from day one or compete with Fox for the OG position.

#130. Micha Johnson, ILB, Kentucky: A great linebacker, with instincts and a nose for the ball. Could be huge to have for depth and since we traded away Sims.

#162. Geno Atkins, DT, Georgia: More DLine help, depth is key at the DT position.

#194. Brandon Minor, RB, Michigan : A homer pick, but i think he is a great RB when healthy. Could be a steal.

Compensatory pick(s):

Trindon Holliday, WR/KR, LSU: very small at 5'5" but may be THE fastest person in the draft, could be lightning in a bottle.

Daryll Clark, QB, Penn State: Stanton and Culpepper will be gone, sign a veteran and Clark could be a solid pickup this late.

We will not get any compensatory picks this year.....

……The guys we signed cost more then the guys we lost…….Morris and Johnson alone were more then all the guys we lost.

We may get....

…..one in the 7th if there are not 32 picks awarded becasue then it goes by record……thats why we got one last year becasue they only handed out 30 for fa loses to all teams.

i like the trade moves,

but cant say i agree with the picks.
i like Berry. he is a stud and a starter no doubt. i think passing on Suh for Berry is like turning in a Mercedes for a BMW. Sure, both are nice, I guess its all on what you like.

We wont pick Dunlap. It seems the staff wants squeaky clean guys and he has already screwed the pooch.

I like Jerry, but do we really need another ILB or should we get an OLB if we traded Sims away?

I like the idea of picking up Holliday and Clark is ok too. What do you think about Cox as a back up QB? He backed up Stafford at Georgia. Seems decent enough, I really dont see him getting drafted.

ahhh

whats the deal with trading ernie sims….. now its like a virus around here. SCHWARTZ will not trade any skilled players on this team for draft picks, unless its a first rounder.

Hes got to improve....

….hes got play more disciplined……hes all over the place….I think thats the biggest concern that I have…..Playing like a special teamer.

If the price is right

I wouldn’t trade him for just any old pick or player. Sims for Dorsey could be interesting…
I think the Lions are gonna keep Sims, let Foote walk and move Levy to the middle. They said on draft day they pictured Levy as a MLB. Starter LBs next year are JP, Levy and Sims. The Lions may draft a LB somewhere for depth/ST

Dunlap?

I think we pass on Dunlap. He has a lot of character issues, work ethic issues, motivational issues, and obviously the recent DUI. I guy like Brandon Graham would be a much better option.

I love the mock though other than that.

I think trading Ernie to Oakland is the only way we get that much for him, haha

Idk

I would rather have Suh than a combo of Berry and Delmas. Also I think they should pick Okung if Suh is gone because OT is the biggest need but they cant pass on Suh. Otherwise I like the rest of the draft espescially Heyward in the 2nd round if he is there.

by David7 on Dec 30, 2009 1:04 AM EST reply actions

Heyward said last week he is going back to OSU for his senior season

I would rather grab a guard in the second or third. Than drafting Okung. Not sold on his heart.

Bad move for college players to wait

The rookie salary cap will be important for the owners in the new agreement, and likely a concession that the union will accept since they are paid TODAY by current players…not future draft picks.

Just give me 25 guys on the last year of their contracts; I'll win a pennant every year....Sparky Anderson

Lots of moves there

I like the acquisition of picks but I’m unsure of some of the trades. Some of the picks are iffy too. Berry, while good, hasn’t been sold on me yet and Dunlap seems like a bust in the making. Other than that, the position picks seem cool, plus, the amount of picks is something to dream of.

OMG another mock draft..........throw it on the pile

I think Jimmy Hoffa’s buried under there.

What? He can’t block a dead gopher? Humph, details.

(I like the Trindon Holliday pick for 7th/UFA......worth a camp invite, if nothing else)

He really IS insanely fast……and insanely short. Haven’t seen him mentioned much.

LOL

I think he’s in the Meadowlands endzone GRLion.

I don’t like the trading of Sims for anything other than a 2nd rounder. I would rather have McCoy if he’s available at #4 (again I think DL is our most pressing need).

Is Johnson the dude that gave the concussion to Tebow?? If so I say great pick!!
