Comparison?

I’m surprised no one posted, or mentioned this. If someone did I apologize, I didn’t see it. But the New Jersey Nets went 0-18 before finally securing their first victory of the season. I know there are 82 games in a season, but being unable to pull out a victory in 18 attempts in the NBA is a much more dubious honor than going 0-16 in the NFL. At least in my opinion.

In the NFL a team has a week to prepare for the Sunday showdown. In the NBA you play every other night, sometimes in back to back nights. It’s common that NBA players will coast through a game, allowing a team that isn’t as talented as the other to squeak one out. I have to believe that towards the end of last season teams focused on the Lions, not wanting to be “that team” that lost to our beloved franchise.

Do I think there will ever be another 0-16 team? No, Roger Goodell will get his way and the season will be extended to 18 games. Will there be another Ofer? Yes, will it happen next year? No, but it will.

On another note I love my Lions, and hope they win every week.  I really do, but how ironic is it that the year they play themselves out of the #1 pick there is an absolute stud. So frustrating!

nets

The Nets actually have some talent on their team. They were just having alot of problems with injuries . Last year the Lions were a talentless team. The Nets are a much better team, this question is dumb.

Just because their squad has talent doesnt make them

a good team.

And since there hasnt EVER been a team to start out 0-18, there is room for comparison. Wether you believe its dumb or not is your opinion, however short sighted it is.

you can definitely make that comparison...

I think the final records are more important then the streak. If the Nets manage to win like 9 or 10 games this year, then I think you can compare them to the lions.

I voted Nets

only because I think its easier to turn an NBA team around faster than an NFL team. I don’t know – I’m just sick of our Lions losing!!! DAMNIT

Nets are better....

…..we have way way way ro many holes on this team.

+1 Bennie

Unfortunately I agree with you. Its easier to fill holes on a 12 man roster instead of a 53 man roster.

Thats what im saying.....

……Lions are a couple years away….But we are heading in the right direction.

Nets are better

They have twofranchise players on their team (Devin Harris, Brooke Lopez)…thats saying a lot in the NBA ’cause thats 40% of your starting lineup. The lions had one franchise player last year: Megatron.

Just a thought, but Imagine the Nets landing LeBron and getting either Bosh or Amare. That would be a sick team.

That could happen.

Jay-z would shell out the money it would take to get them. I think Lebron would go to the Nets before he goes to the Knicks just because of Jay-z. That being said I still think in reality he stays in Cleveland.

I also think the Bulls are getting Wade next year.

He is from Chicago, they already expressed interest in him, and the Heat aren’t going out of their way to keep him there.

by toled0lions on Dec 7, 2009 7:11 PM EST up reply actions

question is...

does jay-z have that kinda money to spare. i mean, he is a rich guy and all, but Lebron aint comin cheap, plus there is luxury tax on top of that. i actually think that lebrons goin somewhere else. either ny or nets, unless cleveland wins the championship this year.

as far as wade, for sure… hes gonna be a bull next year. I really hope, Joe D has something planned, or else we’re not winning another championship for the next decade

you ain't missin anything...

I stop watching NBA Basketball (until after Christmas at least). When the game was taken over by Gangsta WannaBe Ball hogs. And I’m not trying to sound racist, Birdman is a Punk too.

It is the most individual Team sport, and the officiating is way too subjective. IMHO they should start both teams at 100pts and just play the last two minutes of the 4th qrt.

The NBA is a great game.....

.,……To say all players are gangster wanabes isnt right…….There are a select few but not that many……Just like in football……Id mcuh rather watch a NBA game over a hockey game……I mean a sport where guys fight right att he start of the game…..Lame…..I do like college hockey though……That Mich State run a couple yrs ago to the national championship was awesome!!!!……NBA ITS FANTASTIC!!!!!!

by BennieBladesFan on Dec 8, 2009 8:43 PM EST up reply actions

There are only a select few "gangsta wannabe's" in the NBA?

I’m not saying that they are Gangsters, I’m saying that just about all of them are “Gangsta WannaBe’s”.

Listen to an NBA player get interviewed at the half, or after the game, or even in a press conference. Remember Allen Iverson a couple years ago, “Practice, We talkin’ bout Practice, Not a Game but Practice.” He didn’t think he NEEDED to Practice.

Teams rarely run set plays anymore, you’re just watching ten guys play streetball. Witch leads to the subjective officiating. Ask Tim Donaghy about that. It is common practice in the NBA for the Refs to call fouls differently for different players. (I think we all knew that already) But he goes on to accuse the NBA of fixing games for Drama.

No thanks, I’ll take a NHL game any day, a League where the Teams Police each other and deliver their own form of Justice.

Its cool.....

….I like the NBA and the amazing athletes……Guys like Lebron and Kobe are amazing to watch……Im just not a hockey fan……As you just arent a NBA fan….Its all good im just saying I dont think many guys in the NBA are wanabe gangesters….I cant think of one piston that is…….And policing each other……Did you watch the Bad Boys……They policed themselves.

thanks....

sorry, I’ve been in a real argumentative mood recently

I think there WILL be another 0-16 team in the NFL

Maybe in the next few years, what with all the really bad teams out there right now. In fact, ironically enough, there might have been an 0-16 team THIS year if we hadn’t gone into a coma vs. the St. Louis Rams in Week 8.

What? He can’t block a dead gopher? Humph, details.
