OT: WTF Tigers

How on earth can you just trade away Curtis Granderson?  I couldn't care less about Edwin Jackson, but Grandy was my Tiger, and now he is a Yankee?  I think I'm gonna be sick.  Thanks, Dave Dombrowski.

WTF!!

Thanks Dumbrowski, so now we are stuck paying Ordonez 18 mil, and to make up for that mistake you are cleaning house. Polanco, Granderson, Jackson all gone.

I better find a good hobby for the summer, cause it looks like the Tigers are going the wrong way again.

Looks like I just got a lot of free time next summer.

Oh nooooooooooooo!!

Grandy was my Tiger too! Damn it Dumbrowski!! I HATE YOU!!

I have an authenticated, autographed picture of Curtis Granderson in action hanging on the wall next to me right now…..:o( This is a sad day.

No doubt.

Hey, on the other hand I mean Granderson was exciting and fun to watch but man it sure is easier to get behind and be the fan of oyung middle-reliviers. Those are the most exciting 2 outs in any seventh inning.
God help Michigan … sigh

I liked Grandy....

He came out of no where to be an awesome player.

by CLF on Dec 8, 2009 3:16 PM EST reply actions

While Granderson

Is a wonderful guy and ballplayer, the Tigers did get a good return for him. Scherzer is probably a better pitcher than Jackson, Daniel Schlereth and Austin Jackson are both good prospects, and Phil Coke is a decent enough reliever.

Trust me: the team you don’t want to be a fan of today is the Arizona Diamondbacks.

As a yankee fan

i would like to thank the detroit tigers personally for granderson

by IAmGross on Dec 8, 2009 3:36 PM EST reply actions

A. Jackson

Don’t worry. Grandy reached his peak. The Yankees are taking an over priced center, who can’t hit lefties and are giving us two amazing prospects. Austin Jackson will be better than what Granderson is now in a couple of years. If your not going to win the division why not build a better team?

by Kman23 on Dec 8, 2009 3:41 PM EST reply actions

Yea Austin Jackson

could and hopefully will be a better player than Granderson so I’m not too worried about it, even though I loved Grandy

Saw that Sean

Peeps here in the Apple are happy as hell. Not a baseball fun but I root for the Tigers de facto through the Lions. Why would they trade him??? Weird.

Not at all.

Trading Granderson and Jackson doesn’t save them much money for 2010. And they have a ton of contracts coming off the books after next season. They absolutely did not have to trade either of them because of payroll issues.

by stormhit on Dec 9, 2009 2:57 AM EST up reply actions

yes they did...

Saves them close to 6 Mil next year, then 11 Mil in 2011 and 15 Mil in 2012.

AND THE FACT....

That we are paying 92.1 MILLION DOLLARS FOR….. Cabrera, Ordonez, Guillen, Inge, Willis, Robertson, and Bonderman.

with good pitching prospect I might add...

what can I say……

The NY papers I saw

thought the Tigers got a pretty good deal.
I imagine in the Yankee lineup Granderson will do better because they seem to want him batting second.
I gotta about Mags. That made no sense last year and less this.

by rbanner on Dec 11, 2009 5:36 PM EST up reply actions

They had to do it man

Dombrowski has messed the team up with bad contracts. Could not afford to pay him. Nobody wanted to take all the bad contracts and he was an attractable piece. We got some very nice prospects in return.

These prospects better work out

or else this might be one of the worst MLB trades i have seen

Grandy was my Tiger, too

Trading him so the team is better was a smart move, but I’ll never forgive Dumbo for make Grandy a Yankee. I hate the Skankees almost as much as I hate the fucking Cowgirls.
I can’t root for Curtis anymore :( Good luck to him though.

Puke!!

Granderson was my Tiger too. Screw the Yankees, screw Dumbrowski.

Comon' Man...

Living directly between NY and BOS, means I get crap sports talk WEEI and the FAN and enjoy nothing more than watching the tigers beat the Soxs and the Yanks, I may have to wait a while for the later…

Palanco Was my Tiger

Like i’ve said before, after Chauncey was dealt there isnt a player who is untouchable to me as a fan. The guy was ever bit as important the the Detroit area as Grandy was, and he brought it every night. Most of the past 2-3 years Chauncey was hurt. Last year he played healthy for the first time and he looked great. Looks great this year. Joe D can kiss my ass.

as a diamondbacks fan

This ruins my month. Trust me Mad Max was worth the trade with his upside. Plus, the tigers get Schlereth as well. This is the worst move by ZONA in a long time. Screw you Yankees.(2001!!!!!!!!!!!)
