Lions Trade Jon Kitna to Cowboys?

National Football Post is reporting that the Lions have traded quarterback Jon Kitna to the Dallas Cowboys for what is currently being called "late picks."  I would be shocked if they got anything more than a sixth- or seventh-round pick for Kitna, but maybe Martin Mayhew just has a way of pulling off amazing deals with the Cowboys.  I'm sure we'll find out soon enough, but one way or another, Kitna will be off the roster by March 3, the date when his roster bonus is due.  It doesn't make sense for a team to trade for him when he is going to be released in a few days, but again, this is the Cowboys we're talking about.

More as it comes out.

According to Adam Schefter

Detroit tried to trade for the Broncos Jay Cutler by using Matt Cassel as trade bait.

That would have been a blockbuster move!

But until they start actually closing these deals… all they are is close… and this ain’t horseshoes. The need to start making some of these great ideas become reality. Such is the life of a Lion’s fan… it’s always “what could have been”.

MAKE SOMETHING HAPPEN!

I know right

we’ve been getting over on them on all the deals lol.

by Megatron on Feb 28, 2009 4:44 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Eh

hard to tell. We’ll see if we bring in anymore CB’s, if not safety is a possibility.

by Megatron on Feb 28, 2009 4:51 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

what do you guys know about henry

I’m not all that familiar with him.

by MoTown Lions on Feb 28, 2009 4:52 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

To be honest

I don’t think we gave up any picks. I thought it was Kitna for Henry and a late round pick or two from them. But maybe we gave a pick too.

Wasn't it...

a straight up, player-for-player trade?

by DrewsLions on Feb 28, 2009 7:08 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

29 picks.

I don’t think we’ve ever had a guy on our team with 29 career picks. Lol.

Yeah.

Something doesn’t add up here.

Lol

right. He was pretty solid in Dallas. He was a backup for a little bit but he can start for sure. He started in Dallas when they needed him to.

Check the other blog on the main page

It said Kitna for henry, a 5th this year, and a 6th and 7th next year. Maybe it’s worded wrong and we gave the picks idk.

If that was true..

This would be the sickest trade anyone has ever pulled off. Can’t be true.

Wait one min

I am a huge fan of this trade but let’s not act like we pick up Champ Baily… just a good starter

Mayhew Has Done Ntthing Wrong....

…..so far I loved when they gave him the job right away. Hiring Schqartz is going to be a great move in the long run. Mayhew Rocks!!!

by BennieBladesFan on Feb 28, 2009 5:28 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I wouldn't go that far...

He’s been close on a few big deals, but everything else is suspect until they field a good team.
