Lions Receive Anthony Henry for Kitna
The Lions have in fact traded quarterback Jon Kitna to the Cowboys. In exchange for Kitna, the Lions will receive cornerback Anthony Henry. No word yet if that's all they will get, as it was previously reported that draft picks were part of the deal as well.

Draft picks
I doubt Dallas would give us picks and henry, we better not given up more than a 5th rounder, also will henry move to safty any ideas?
The Deal!
I heard Detroit trade Kitna for Henry, a 5th this year and a 6th and 7th next year. Good deal by Mayhew. HENRY DOES NOT NEED TO BE A SAFETY. We need CBs and he is a good veteran presence. I love this deal. Kitna had to go anyway.
where did you see the comment about the draft picks? I havent heard that anywhere. Is it a reliable source?
Kowalski
Kowalski reported it as Kitna for “late picks” and “possibly” a player, Schefter said the details of the compensation aren’t available, the Cowboys official site says Kitna-for-Henry, but in the article it says “there may be some more moving parts to the deal”. My guess is that there is either a late-round swap, or there’s a conditional pick involved and they’re just hammering out what triggers.

We have Safeties
We have 3 guys on the roster capable of being starting safeties…Schweigart, Bullocks, and Alexander.
Man
Cowboys fans are PISSED!!! I’m loving this trade
Nice!
I think this is a great deal as it stand right now. we need corners and thats what Henry needs to be.
Call me crazy...
But now that Kitna is gone, I would LOVE to see the Lions bring in Kyle Boller. He’s had some good moments the past few seasons for the Ravens, and really wasn’t given a chance after Steve McNair had been brought in. He’s got a big arm to wing it downfield to Megatron or Washington(i hope i hope i hope). If nothing else, he can hopefully at least challenge Culpepper(who i’m not a fan of).
I’d even be fine with Rex Grossman. Sure, he didn’t do very well in Chicago, but I think that if Orton hadn’t done as well as he did in managing the games he would’ve had a chance to do better. He’s shown he can pass the ball and has some potential, and I think the change of scenery will really help him out. Bring in Grossman for cheap and have him and Stanton compete to back up Culpepper, and I’d be perfectly fine with that.
Two things...
1) this might have been a cap move by Dallas. Dallas might have figured they wouldn’t be able to resign Henry afer this season becasue he is on the rise. Kitna on the other hand is on the down side of his career and may end up resigning with Dallas for cheap as a back up.
2) This says quitea bit about the faith Dallas has in Tony Romo. I don’t think they trust his durability.
Chris Carr
The lions have just signed CB Chris Carr from the Tennessee titans. I believe this will be a great addition given he is a kick returner and may be undersized but is pretty fast

PHENOMENAL move!!
Mayhew gets SIX gold stars from me on this one. Trading a guy we were days away fro cutting for a solid veteran corner in his prime (with possible late-round picks involved). How does he keep doing this? “Hey guys, we’ll keep giving you disgruntled pieces off our 0-16 team, and you keep giving us first-day draft picks and starters in their prime!” Two thumbs way up.

So the two dallas trades look like this....
……We Trade Williams, Kitna AND 4TH Rounder to Dallas for Henry, 1st, 3rd, 5th & 6th in 2009 and a 6th in 2010….NOT BAD MAYHEW!!!

I think
Mayhew has naked pictures of Jerry Jones’ daughter
Whoa
I’d like to see those pictures, she’s kinda cute. :)

jerry jones
I find it rather humorous that Jerry Jones is quickly picking up the slack for Matt Millen as the easiest GM in the league. That guy really should jsut be an owner and stop with the Gm business. He can’t do it. If the Lions can get the best of him, then he should retire out of embarrassment.
Props to Mayhew too, by the way. Henry isnt a bad player.

Lets trade Dallas left tackles also, Backus for Adams straight up.—-Hey BennieBladesFan- right on.
Jeff Backus is not bad…his contract is the only issue. They need to rework that, with incentives. Backus is a good LT but not a pro bowler. I am sick of seeing our solid lineman knocked on. Dominic Raiola is an underrated Center. Dom just has an attitude issue. Every year though he does his part and is the closest thing to a pro bowler on that line.
Anyone heard anything about a Calvin Johnson Trade,
I know it seems ridiculous, but my friend said he heard it on 97.1 earlier today but I doubt it for some reason.
no way
unless it’s for the entire patriots team i can’t see that happening at all
Update?
Anyone have a Carr, Washington or McFadden update?
I heard they were all here for visits.
And Clayton was resigned by the Bucs. http://www.profootballtalk.com/category/rumor-mill/
Whoa
PFT is finally back up.

Quarterbacks
Again we’re probably not picking anyone up for QB in the Free Agent Market. Things are looking more and more like Mayhew is going to draft Stafford with the first pick. Pepp will be the starter for all of 3 games before he gets hurt again. Also the Megatron trade rumors are ridiculous he’s coming off of a great 2nd season with no other weapons on offense. He’s the only guy we got, he’s drawing coverage and still getting HIS job done, has more upside than Roy ever did and none of the BS attitude. He’ll be here as long as we can keep him.
A Cowboy fan here.
I was dropping in to get you guys opinion of the trade. Overall most cowboy fans like the trade of Henry Staight up for Kitna. If a late round draft pick is thrown in we could still live with it. We drafted 2 corners last year and they look like they could be the real deal and Henry has had more and more injuries every year and would have probably only seen the field as a 4th corner. He will be a nice stop gap for you guys but I promise you will curse him more than once on sundays. He needs help over the top. He was a guy who wasnt that fast to begin with but was a good match for the more physical WRs. If they get a clean break he is toast. His knee will be giving out in November but he is a tough guy and will continue to play. Make no mistake, his skills are fading.
As far as Kitna, as a backup we like him and hope he can help Romo. We had Brad Johnson last year and he had to bounce the ball at least once to get the ball back to the line of scrimmage. There was talk of Grossman and Boller but neither of those guys seemed to be able to read a defense. Garcia was guy that seemed interesting but the year in Cleveland when he wasnt in a West Coast offense he pretty much sucked. We dont run the WCO. We dont need Kitna to set the world on fire but to put the ball in our playmakers hands if Romo goes down. Remember also that Kitna lit us up every time we played you guys.
Overall I think it was a good trade for both teams. They should both help our teams and no one got fleeced. You guys got a veteran corner who will help the younger guys along and we got a back up QB and some cap relief.
I hope with Millen gone you guys can have a little success. You guys deserve it after the last several years.
Thanks
Appreciate the “sympathy”. I think the trade was good for both sides also. The thing with Kitna is he has basically worn out his welcome. He is a smart QB, but when Martz left, Kitna did not seem himself anymore.
I think Dallas is a good place for Kitna, and Kitna has his faults like Henry believe me. Kitna holds on to the ball too long resulting in fumbles, he tries to carry the team. He may not do that in Dallas, since well you guys have a better line, but make no mistake, he did that here.
Henry is getting older, I heard talk he can get beat deep, but honestly anything is better than what we have now. Detroit has 3 safeties who can start at this point if they all stay healthy, so I do not think over the top help is an issue. Schwartz is smart and will utilize Henry’s skills, even if it means him playing safety or only playing against physical wideouts.
juust a silly question
but didnt we get a third round pick with bodden for rogers from the browns last year? where did that pick go? why do we only have 2 third round picks? did we give it up in one of our trades or what? just wondering where it went cause we could really use that pick! and FUCK stafford he is complete garbage. he is a horrible decision maker with no accuracy. like colin cowherd said where has a strong arm ever gotten anyone with bad decision making skills and bad accuracy! DRAFT CURRY HES A BEAST!!!! With just him even if we use dizon’s small ass as mlb we would still have one of the best linebacking corps in the NFC north to rival da bears. except younger but I still say draft another linebacker in the third or later there are some good linebackers later in this draft. I also think our d-line is workable now that Marinelli isnt here to bench the good young players for the old garbage ex-tampa players like darby (I do like white though). White, Redding, Fluellen (lets see what he has cause he looked really good in college and at times last year I liked that 3rd round pick last year), and the next Dwight Freeney Cliff the BEAST Avril he is the best young talent on our D. mark my words he will end up being one of the best ends in the league just look at what he did last year with the limited playing time Marinelli gave him hes a monster!! Those are my thoughts for now I havent wrote on here in a while but I will be more often. But let me know what happened to that third round pick from the browns we got . Thanks guys. GO LIONS!
Used it
I’m pretty sure that 3rd round pick was used last year to draft Kevin Smith.
Just to play devil’s advocate, here’s a few names of QBs with strong arms and questionable accuracy and decision making that had some success:
Brett Favre
Donovan McNabb
Daunte Culpepper
Steve Young (his early years were very erratic)
I’m not advocating for Stafford. I just thought I’d throw those out there.
my bad
im an idiot i thought that was this year that we had that pick. I forgot we already went through a whole season and a draft since we traded him i guess i wasnt sure if we traded him after the draft last year or not! But one thing about all of those qb’s you have named have or did have extremely good athleticism for the qb position. And they were and are very good at using that athleticism to escape the pocket and buy time for someone to get open enough to make a throw. they never HAD to sit in the pocket and make a tight throw between defenders under pressure. they all could create plays which if all you have in your arm is strength then you have to be able to do something else to help yourself. But they werent vick or vince young, they used athleticism to create a pass not run first pass second. I don’t think stafford is that athletic from what I saw out of him at georgia he isnt nearly as athletic as any of those quarterbacks. Overall I don’t think he has enough of the tools you need to be a good qb in the nfl. I would rather get Harrell in the third or pick up a fourth for him cause after watching so many games of him last year and how sick he looked at the senior bowl I think he could be sweet. The only knock on him is he comes from that crazy ass Texas Tech spread. Or even Pat White I have paid attention to him for the past three years in college and I really like him as a passer not just cause he can run.
you're right
those guys did have that added element of elusiveness. i haven’t seen enough of stafford to know if he can move or not. i know his 40 time isn’t impressive but there are a lot of qbs who are slow but have the ability to move around in the pocket to buy time (brady, manning). i don’t know if this is the case and to be honest i have the feeling that i’m trying to talk myself into stafford just as a way of bracing myself for the possibility that he’ll be wearing honolulu blue next season.
i wouldn’t mind graham harrell as a late round pick either. i liked him at texas tech. i also wouldn’t mind chase daniel. he’s a little short but he played well at missouri. again, these would be late round picks. as for pat white, i can’t see him as a full time qb in the nfl but he’d make a nice “slash” type of reciever.
Henry a CB or S
If we can sign Greer or Mcfadden, Henry could start at S.
