Veteran free-agent DT Grady Jackson is headed to Detroit on Tuesday afternoon, and if he passes a physical Wednesday, he’s expected to sign a two- or three-year contract with the Lions, a source close to the situation said.

“But he’s also one of the players who tested positive for Bumetanide after taking StarCaps, a supplement that secretly included the banned diuretic. So, depending on how things turn out with that lawsuit in Minnesota, Jackson ultimately could face a four-week suspension.” from PFT

interesting.

You do know . . .

You get that that means he was suspended for taking an over-the-counter weight loss supplement that was illegally spiked with a prescription diuretic, right? As in, the manufacturer was breaking the law and he was an innocent victim? A dozen or so other players were caught up in this, and the league actually knew about the spiking but didn’t tell the players.

Peace
Ty

Do you have a source for this?

I hadn’t heard this yet. I would be in favor of this signing for sure. Even thought he hasn’t met expectations, I think he is a solid TE.

As long as we don't spend too much for him

I think this will be a decent pick up. It will be one of those stop gap guys til we draft a big physical DT in a year or two. He brings the same thing that Shaun Rogers did, a big run stuffing DT that will probably only be in on run plays though but we can get him for a quarter of the price. He will also demand a double team a lot of times which will be really good cause in our 4-3 he will take blockers off of Redding allowing him to be that DT he was 3 or 4 years ago when he got that big contract and had a very good year. Redding is not the kind of player that can dominate against a double team but if you have a really big strong guy next to him to take blockers away from him he can be great. I hope it goes through bc him on run downs and Fluellen on passing downs I think is a major upgrade. Just be happy we can get Grady instead of having to deal with another year of Darby. GO LIONS!!!!

I'd like to be getting bigger & younger at DT

…I guess we’ll settle for getting bigger and much, much older.
