The V-word
Somebody finally wrote what many of us have been thinking. Jamie Dukes from the NFL network proposed that the Lions would benefit hugely from signing Mike Vick as soon as they're legally able to. His point centers around the fact that Vick is instant offense (if he's in shape, which is no guarantee), he controls the ball which helps the defense, and he'd be a major draw.
Look, I'm a dog owner, and I think that what Vick did was absolutely reprehensible. He deserves to rot and suffer for an extended period of time. That said, I think everyone deserves a chance to recover from rock bottom. Honestly, where else to do that than on the Lions? It would justify our not drafting Stafford (although I'm personally torn on the Stafford decision), plus our o-line would look better by comparison if the d-line has prepare for a Vick-led offense. He has a cannon for an arm, so CJ would love him. Plus, CJ is the perfect WR for a slightly inaccurate QB anyways. If nothing else, it should be worth a tryout, right? The Lions are officially beggars in the NFL, and I'm pretty sure they can't afford to be choosers. Right?
What are your thoughts?

No offense
But seriously, folks, this is a non-story. The Lions have already said — and I can’t stress this enough — that they wouldn’t sign Vick. The Lions will not sign him. There is no point to discuss it.

of course
I know it’s not happening (as you said elsewhere, Jamie Dukes is an idiot, I agree). There’s no way the Lions would risk the PR disaster. Even though it would never happen, I’m not sure it’s a bad idea, from a theoretical standpoint. That’s all I’m saying.

Seriously??????
Thats all Detroit needs is Vick. Not only are we the worst team in Football but now you want to be the old Cowboys. All we need is a couple of drug charges to go along with it and we are set. Plus I would love to see my old Boxer get ahold of him. I live an hour away from Atlanta and everyone here hates him too. I know it was just a question and sorry if i sound like i’m attacking you cause i’m not but i don’t care how good some people think he is, we don’t need him. I would rather take my chances with Pat White ( and no I don’t want Him either). Being in the army has its perks some times and because of that i have been to some Falcons games and been in the lockerroom and met him and trust me the dude is a D@*K and aint worth Sh#t.

Good response!
That’s what I like to hear! I’m pro discussion, and we now have one solid vote in the “Vick can burn in hell” camp. And don’t worry, I don’t take it as an attack. I just like hearing where people stand on the issue.

Jamie Dukes is not a smart man.
His mock draft is by far the worst I have seen on a major NFL related site, now this.
And Vick? Just from a football standpoint he is not a very good QB. Inaccurate, turnover prone, and just plain over rated.
Finally to be perfectly clear, I don’t care if he was better than Peyton Manning, I could not cheer for a team with him on it. Period.

Was he the one who suggested the Lions should draft Everette Brown first overall?

We could sell out the stadium
And that’s just counting the PITA members

I say we pass
Vick may well find his way into the league again, but It won’t be with a Lion on his helmet.

I don’t care how bad we think or know we need a QB lets see how Stanton, Cullpepper or Staffoer pan out

I don't wanna be like Mike.
No thanks don’t need him on this team. the Lions need to be only thinking of football this offseason, and Mick would be a huge distraction. Let the raiders have him.

Sign Vick Now!
Then, we re-sign Charles Rogers and get Pacman to go with him. Now women’s groups can picket the games right next to the PETA people. While we’re in the Jones section of the phone book call Matt and tell him it snows all the time in Michigan. We can pay both Jones’ in singles, They roll up into straws and fit in g-strings with ease. Might as well pursue Donte Whitner too, what’s a couple resisting arrests between teammates? The secondary’s already looking better…
I really think OJ still has some juice left in the tank…KSmooth needs a mentor.
Make sure to draft Andre Smith too, MI has fallen off a little in the fattest state in the country rankings.

Love it!
But OJ is a little old. I say we go after Clarrett or Lawrence Philips or hell….BOTH. And I know we just signed two WRs but maybe we could work out some kind of work release program for Ray Carruth. He could spend weekdays in his cell studying the playbook and then just show up on Sunday. He’d come with the added bonus of free extra security at Ford Field.

you forgot about Plaxico
oh and we should prob trade for T.O as well

Trade Calvin Johnson and Kevin Smith to Buffalo
for T.O and Marshawn Lynch i mean if you get Vick he prob won’t like Kevin Smith and CJ so why not get rid of them i mean Vick is now the Face of the Franchise. Wow that would be a Classic Lions move though

M. Vick
is neck deep in sh** with his bankruptcy issues and has to go long way to solve`em. He wants to come back into NFL which is understandable but… That bankruptcy judge did what? Oh yeah he send him right back to his federal prison to invent more realistic program. So I guess before he finishes his probation and finally returns to the game, if ever, you guys will already forget this post.
