One week to Draft Day! I just realized yesterday that I will be moving my youngest daughter from college in Ottawa back home for the summer on Draft Day. So I will be madly searching the radio dial to find a station to follow the drama. So in my absence I hope you all enjoy the draft and am sure that the comments on this blog will be flying fast and furious and hilarious.
Maybe in advance you could share some of your favourite Draft Day memories.
When I realized I was going to be moving my daughter, I remembered a previous move in 2005. I found a radio station [full of static] and was timing my loads from the apartment with the picks, to make sure I did not miss the Lion's pick. I was sitting in the van when I heard those fateful words,
"With the tenth pick, the Detroit Lions select wide receiver Mike Williams of USC."
I was as stunned as the ESPN radio crew. Nothing was said for a few seconds before the comments [mostly negative] started coming in. I was miserable the rest of the day and vainly tried to rationalize how this could help the Lions be successful. The one day that Lions fans should be hopeful and happy about the future was crushed by the mental machinations of the mind that belonged to Matt Millen.
So, please share your happy [or not so happy] Draft Day memories, and enjoy Draft Day 2009!
