Pick or Vick?
Within the last few weeks, the Detroit Lions have received more attention then they did all last season. I love all the talk and speculation wondering if the reports coming out of Detroit are legit or just to keep everyone aloof. Talk of drafting defense, lineman, or a QB has kept things interesting even though everyone knows the only choice Detroit has is to acquire a QB. Lately though, the talk has been centered on the drafting of Matt Stafford. What are my thoughts on this? Big mistake.
Anyone remember Alex Smith or Ryan Leaf? Well that's exactly what I see in taking Stafford. So who else is out there? Jay Cutler has sure made himself available, but at a price tag that's a bit steep.
So how do you find a QB who has the proven talent, and won't require half the team's salary? Answer - Michael Vick. You know he's going to be picked up by someone, so why not Detroit? Make it a one year contract, enough to cover a portion of his debt, but leaving plenty to use elsewhere. Sounds like a win - win situation to me. You can't get much worse than 0-16, so why not?

I don’t know what you are thinking that Vick is will to sign for but according to his bankruptcy papers he expects to make in excess of 10 million per year. Vick has never been worth the money and will be crushed behind the lack of an offensive line in Detroit. I don’t see Cutler coming to Detroit since Denver says they want 2 or more first round picks but have no interest in the Lions first rounder. What if we trade the 20th pick and next years first round pick for Cutler?

He might have been “top dog” ( I couldn’t help myself) in the slammer, but Vick will soon realize that he is no longer at high demand. Whether or not he can come to that realization before the draft, is the question. How often do dog-fightin, newly sprung jailbirds get what they want?
As far as trading for Cutler, I don’t think they can match what the Redskins can offer. But, I definitely wouldn’t mind giving up a 20th and next year pick for him.

No offense
But why do people keep bringing up Vick when the team has already said it doesn’t want him?
And why have trade the #1 pick for Vick as an option? Not even Millen is that dumb.

Could they retain the #1 pick and still get Vick? Maybe it’s fanatical, mabe impractical, but if so… WOWZERS!!!!

Why in the world would we have to trade a number one for Vick. That is a definite stretch, I wouldn’t give up more than a sixth or seventh rounder for him.

What?
Vick is barely worth a seventh-round pick. What are you his agent?

I think Atlanta
would give up picks to ship off Vick.

I don't think it's too much to ask in a QB...
…that he doesn’t torture puppies.
Surely, we can find one who meets this criterion?

But
That’s the kind of attitude I want to see in a QB! I want a mean vicious guy who is going to hurt the other team! in fact, I am sure they asked Stafford to strangle a couple kittens during his workout, just to be sure.
There is one draw back to having Vick on your team. If one of the linemen don’t block well ina game, he might drown them in a bucket. We could be going through a lot of linemen.

Pick and Vick
That should have been the title of this post to begin with.

huh
ur not seriously entertaining givin up a #1 pick 4 Vick, cuz that sounds like somethin Millen would do….sadly, he’s probly not dumB enough 4 that, Plax Bur mayB…lol! MayB like a 5th rnd pick. I still like Pat White n the 2nd or 3rd round, he looks like Vick if he could actually throw the ball!

Yeah, I would do the 1st round pick with Vick.
But do you really think Atlanta would give us their 1st rounder to take Vick of their hands? I doubt it.

Contingency deal with ATL
Get him cheap, If he preforms well and wins the starting job, then we send a said pick to ATL. Personally, I think 1 year in the slammer works wonders for NFL stars…. ALA Ray Lewis.
Worst that could happen is losing a 7th round pick.

Hell No
Vick wasn’t a good QB before he got caught killing dogs. He was someone who could run the football from the QB position and thats about it. Miami had the same kind of success last year when they lined Ronnie Brown up in the shotgun. Vick is a gimmick
Other than that…the PR nightmare of drafting a felon who was put in jail for torturing and killing dogs because they couldn’t compete. If people did that Vick would have gotten the cattle prod in his 3rd year.
Don’t forget that the Ford’s run this franchise and Ford is a family business. We take Vick and the AAPCA is going to boycott. People LOVE their animals and when they see MV playing they’re going to look over at Rover and think of what he did. Then they’re going to decide that any corporation willing to pay that monster millions of dollars isn’t something they’re going to want to support.
And last Vick shouldn’t be allowed back in the league. What he did was disgusting. And people can moan and bitch about it’s just an animal. Most serial killers get their start by killing animals when they’re young. He’s a thug without consideration for life in general.
And paying him millions is only going to perpetuate the idea that it’s OK to kill.

As I have already said
This is a non-issue anyways. Good for discussion I guess, but the Lions already have said they won’t take Vick.

No Thanks.
Not only is Vick not a good human being but he isn’t a good football player.
Was fun in Madden though.
