Ok, this is my final dig at Stafford, since its about 95% sure we're getting him, I'll be done looking for reasons not to like him for a while after this. ;)
Here's my question:
If Joey Harrington failed here, what do you think the reasons are? To me, he had suspect heart, so when he was thrown to the Lions (pun intended) he buckled under the pressure. No matter how talented a QB is, if your whole city hates you, and you have jack to work with, I believe that talent will not trump that, and you're destined for failure.
Now with that said, remove any thoughts that I'm comparing the two quarterbacks in any way other than that they will both have snapped the ball with the Detroit Lions. What do you think is going to keep Stafford from having the exact same problem?
I ask this because its my biggest block to accepting Stafford. I don't hate him; I just know we have much bigger holes on the roster to fill, and it does not seem economical for us to draft a QB with the 1st overall pick. He has about the same type of offensive line with MUCH harder competition in the NFL. This is not a recipe for success. That is why I do not want Stafford.
Someone please change my mind (Terry? NL?) :p
