Around SBN: Odds On Peyton Manning's Next Home Includes Three Teams

You should of protected your self against this

This balls been rolling down hill for three months now, everyone should of seen this moment coming and prepared for it.   The only shock for me would of been if the Lions did not get the deal done.   Now that this is done maybe everyone will open there eye's and start doing the research on Stafford and learn were getting a great QB prospect.   Is he a sure thing NO but tell me what prospect is, "please don't spout off Curry is" I also wanted the Lions to build from the inside out, but you can shit in one hand and wish in the other and see what one gets filled first...   Here's another mind shattering idea, Stafford won't be our starting QB week 1.   Culpepper looks great right now and I would not be surprised if DC keeps the kid at bay all season.   There were three # 1's in this draft, Smith, Curry and Stafford.   We got the one with the most upside "surprise, surprise" Let's focus on building the rest of the draft for our defence now...

good post..

I have said a coulpe of times. The draft for me starts with pick #20.

20 and 33 become more important than pick 1 ...

Stafford has the tools to start from day 1 .. but i see him sitting for a few weeks ,probably after the bye week… therefore picks 20 and 33 we need to get 2 STARTING defensive players ( MLB has to be one ) the other one Delmas would be nice ..then grab a DT at 65 and TE 82(Ingram / Casey) someone to help the rookie out..

without a doubt

I am just not into Delmas. I know he could be good. I would like to see more DT’s

Drafting a quarterback first overall is like watching your mother-in-law drive over the edge of a cliff in your new Mercedes.

I like the

use of the word prospect. Fuck prospects, we need players. I’m hoping that maybe in 3 years that that player can do something. That’s what a prospect is. We need players not prospects. Oh well.

Congrats Detroit

Winning is secondary. And we have proved it now. Accept it bitches.

Not only that

But, with the leverage provided the Lions via their fans and Aaron Curry, we were able to keep Stafford from raping us more than 40 million times guaranteed.

Seems like we had better cards going into the negotiations. You have to question the ability and/or intelligence of management with this deal. Lions had a fallback position in place that their fans preferred. Stafford had the prospect of dropping out of the top 10. Seems like $30 million would have been a more reasonable expectation.

Yeah that's what I've been trying to say.

I feel like the front office said one thing to the fans to try and look good, but did the complete opposite. I know about smokescreens and the draft, i don’t need another post telling me “welcome to the draft newb”. The point is, you are coming off an 0-16 season, you haven’t won a game in something like 24 games, why not be open with the fans. They had nothing to lose from saying we are taking the QB of the future unless they weren’t sure until a couple days ago, which would worry me.

I honestly believe they knew all along that they were going to take him. Which is why I don’t see the point for the ruse, especially if they were going to give him the contract he wanted anyways and not call his bluff.
